Reseñas editoriales

Narrator Anthony Donovan's remarkable performance of "The Raven" is steeped in melancholy and a foreboding sense of doom. Donovan uses the cadence of Edgar Allan Poe's words to form a rhythm that reveals the speaker's growing madness. Donovan uses variations in delivery, from the speaker's whispers to half-suppressed shouts to the raven's menacing croak. The emotions he draws out - hushed sorrow, indignation, and terror - are electrifying and intense. Though "The Raven" is one of Poe's most familiar and popular works, listeners will still wish to hear this excellent interpretation.

I honestly don't know why I love this poem. It just relaxes me, weird. The never more part is really funny though haha

4.5 for overall, actually

Play on a slower speed for a more eerie experience. Creeped me out when I heard it.

Perfect when reading speed is slowed down

I feel like I’ve been spoiled by the cartoon version. Is that just a millennial thing?

Not the Simpsons

The first thing that struck me is that the voice of the narrator Anthony Donovan sounds to my ear to be identical to that of Sir Anthony Hopkins. So, while listening, I automatically imagined Hannibal Lector reading aloud from a small tattered volume of The Collected Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe while in his cell, nibbling on some fava beans. This adds to the unease this poem naturally evokes. This is a fine version of this most wonderful poem.

…..Hannibal Lector Quoth ‘Nevermore’…..

I forgot how beautiful this was...so glad I heard it. The narrator did a great job.
