Acerca de esta escucha

Miss Mary Morstan has been receiving pearls and she knows not why or from whom. Now she receives something else: a letter that promises to reveal the mystery and to "right the wrongs" against her. "If you distrust me," continued the correspondent, "bring two friends." She brings Sherlock Holmes and Watson.Public Domain (P)1980 Jimcin Recordings Botánica y Plantas Ciencia Ciencias Biológicas Clásicos Detective Detectives Tradicionales Misterio Música Ficción Sherlock Holmes

Reseñas editoriales

Listening to Walter Covell perform the voice of Dr. Watson in Audible’s series of Sherlock Holmes sagas is like watching Holmes stalk London’s foggy streets. A master is at work. Covell’s Watson is a gruff-voiced, fast-talking Englishman and the perfect foil to Holmes’ narcotic, nonchalant manliness.

The second installment in the Holmes series, The Sign of the Four delves deeper than its predecessor into Holmes’s emotional and spiritual lives, including his infamous addictions. The mystery revolves around an unbidden gift of pearls, convicts, and corrupt prison guards with a secret pact. As always with Holmes, listeners will be darkly entertained while their powers of deduction are challenged.

This recording suffers from quite a few "compression artifacts" and suddenly altering volumes that affect the enjoyment of the audio. The reader is quite good and does a great job of conveying the various characters in the story. At the current price this is a great deal however, although not a very high quality recording. It appears as though these shortcomings are a result of the inferior quality of the original recording, and not that of the digital conversion process. For a new fan of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's erstwhile sleuth, this is a worthy monetary investment.
