Acerca de esta escucha

People with speaking difficulties are at the mercy of insurance companies who are determining how often and for how long speech therapy services should be delivered. It is also a disturbing reality that the likelihood for therapy frequency and length of care is contingent upon either the level of competence or comfort level of the speech-language pathologist or the financial policies of each institution.

Length of treatment and frequency of speech therapy sessions are often established by the insurance policy or plan, and often does not take into consideration the severity of the speaking difficulty. The Health care systems in most countries are not providing long-term therapy for people with moderate to profound speaking difficulties.

The intention of The Teaching of Talking is to make sure that any loved one, caregiver or speech-language pathologist is thoroughly knowledgeable in methods to help people speak better since one never knows when the institution or insurance company will discontinue speech and language therapy.

What is so exceptional about the audio edition is that it is narrated by the author who gives examples of how to do the speech and language stimulation. By listening to his speaking speed, phrasing and inflection, you can achieve mastery of the Teaching of Talking method.

What did you like best about The Teaching of Talking? What did you like least?

He provided some good tips for therapy

Would you be willing to try another one of Mark A. Ittleman, M.S., CCC/SLP’s performances?

I don't think so

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Not applicable

Any additional comments?

Should have been condensed to 4 hours. Too many long lists, personal comments. Congratulatory letters should have been omitted. Delivery, while appropriate for therapy, was not suitable for an audiobook listen.

Stretched out story, unsuitable delivery

As a stroke survivor with aphasia this book and interactions with Mark have been very helpful to frame the path to recovery.

If only all people with aphasia had the opportunity to work with a SLP like Mark, aphasia would have a different life long affect in those who have it.

Thanks to Mark for being a champion for recovery from aphasia!

Very meaningful and helpful

This dude was impossible to listen to. Terrible cadence and voice. I can’t rate the story because I couldn’t last five minutes. I need to find out how to audition to re-perform this book because its performance is a travesty. I never write bad reviews, and I hate most things I get on Audible, but this is next level. This is the guy you hate to hear read from the Haggadah at Passover. You can HEAR him squinting. Anyway, this book probably deserves a do-over, but I wouldn’t know. I never listened to it. Can I have my credit back?
