Too many characters that are not fully developed.
Main mystery thread is not that intriguing. Sub-plots are too numerous.
I can suspend disbelief up to a certain point, but this novel asks me to do this too often.
I applaud the author creating characters that are older than normally found in mystery writing (Miss Marple, aside), but his characters are not realistically elderly.

I would think twice or thrice before reading this author again.

As the interviewer says after the final chapter, this is a treasure to be read again whenever you need an uplift. Could not ask for more!

I could not finish this book. maybe just the performance or just the way written.
this book may be favorable over tea and krimpets but not in 2022. not sure when written. seemed like a book written by my grand mom...for her friends.

I loved this book so much! Witty and so well written. The second book in the series is so good too…maybe even better. Can’t wait for the third book. All of the characters are developed so well and they feel like old friends at the end of the book.

Clever, witty, brilliant. Remarkable characters I will never forget. So much so, the actual mysteries are secondary. I just didn’t want it to end.

Author Marian Keyes believes it is a classic. Who am I to disagree?

This story took absolutely forever to tell. Bounced around and the ending made me glad to just be done with it. Even the great narration couldn’t make this interesting.

Lesley Manville perfectly portrays each of Richard Osman’s characters. This incredibly heartwarming murder mystery makes sense—even if that description seems a bit odd. It somehow happens that this multiple murder mystery truly *is* heartwarming, and funny, relatable and charming. And I can not wait to spend more time with these characters again!

I just didn’t think the book was that funny or that riveting. The performance was a little flat, it was difficult to tell the characters apart. The ending definitely left you flat. A lot of things just didn’t make rational sense. The fun was far out weighed by the disappointment.

I wanted to listen to something light and entertaining. Wow. Wow. Wow. I’m hooked on this author and his story telling. This was beautifully written and wonderfully told. I could not have enjoyed it more. Thank you to the author and reader/performer!
