Acerca de esta escucha
Although the book of Revelation is said to give a blessing to those who read and hear it, it often results in confusion as well. Revelation is applicable to all times and occasions in the Church, and because of that it has been interpreted as predicting many different events in history.
Naturally, these interpretations all contradict each other which leads many believers to decide that efforts to understand it are a waste of time. In fact, however, Revelation is not all that difficult to interpret. It completes the history begun in the book of Acts, and is closely tied to everything else that is going on in the apostolic age. It deals with the end of the Old Creation and the full arrival of the New, and then looks forward to the final return of Jesus and the bodily resurrection at the end of history.

The thesis of this study is that the Persian kings named Darius, Ahasuerus, and Artaxerxes in the books of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther are one and the same. This is not a new understanding, but an examination of recent commentaries on these books shows that this possibility is not even entertained, so certain are these expositors that Ahasuerus is the king the Greeks called Xerxes and that Artaxerxes is Artaxerxes Longimanus.

We hear all to often that someone has decided to leave the Evangelical Christian faith and to join the Church of Rome, or Eastern Orthodoxy, or High Anglicanism. The lure is liturgy and tradition, and since the Evangelical and Reformed churches so often have such poor worship, it is not hard to understand the pull exercised by those churches that have a heritage of formality, sobriety and beauty. This cure, however, is far worse than the disease.

Who can make sense of the book of Revelation? Actually, James Jordan can explain it—not in all of its mystical intrigue and many-layered prophecies—but in at least one solid interpretation. Many people lament that they have never read a single take that makes sense. This real-life explanation can get one started in unraveling the enigmatic book. Jordan's insights and beautiful comparisons of imagery make this commentary more than just an explanation. It is an experience.

Historia
We are witnessing the end of Western Civilization. The present crisis in our culture is the greatest since the first century. Many commentators on the present scene believe that the entire world is moving into a period of neo-tribalism. In this striking book, theologian James B. Jordan argues that this cultural change is part of God's ongoing plan for humanity, the plan by which the Holy Spirit grows God's daughter, humanity, into a bride for His Son. The present crisis provides a tremendous opportunity for the Christian Church to challenge and transform the world as never before.

Volume Three “Harlot & Bride" covers the last third of Revelation and explores the dark theme of the whore of Babylon followed by the bright and light-filled description of the bride, the New Jerusalem, with its gems, pearls, and clear gold streets and walls. James B. Jordan has never held a full-time academic position. He moonlighted as an editor. These lectures were given over a four-year period to a Sunday school class where he served as an assistant pastor at a small church in Niceville, Florida.

Whenever the heroes from the Bible are trotted out in Sunday school, people are quick to point out their flaws and failings, going straight to the moral of the story rather than paying attention to what the text actually says. In this short but adventurous book, Jordan shows that the Biblical narratives are about so much more than Sunday School lessons and that in fact the patriarchs are not held up for us as examples of failure or sin, but are rather are great moral exemplars.

The Great Commission involves not merely witnessing to the nations but discipling them. God's purpose is to fill the earth with His glory, bringing about a Christianized world, where each nation follows King Jesus. God will accomplish this through the faithful witness of His Church as He blesses the preaching of the gospel and the teaching of His Word. By the blessing of His Spirit, a true unity of confession will be established among all the nations to the end that every nation and language will praise Him (Rev. 7:9).

Origen (c. 185-c. 253) was the most influential Christian theologian before Augustine, the founder of Biblical study as a serious discipline in the Christian tradition, and a figure with immense influence on the development of Christian spirituality. This volume presents a comprehensive and accessible insight into Origen's life and writings, written and compiled by Joseph W. Trigg, a leading Origen authority. An introduction analyzes the principal influences that formed him as a Christian and as a thinker.

If you start at the beginning of the New Testament and read straight through, first you’ll find three similar accounts of Jesus’ life. Then you come to the gospel of John. From recounting Jesus’ signs to recording His famous I am statements, John puts a spotlight on Jesus’ redemptive work so that others will believe and be saved. In this volume, Dr. R.C. Sproul provides an introduction to John in his accessible, conversational style. Each chapter is packed with insights and exhortations to draw you closer to the life and light of the Savior.

Romans is more than a collection of proof texts for Reformed theology. It is an exposition of God's plan to take back the world. In this new commentary, Douglas Wilson tackles Paul's meaty letter passage by passage, explaining Paul's central message: Jesus’s death and resurrection have transformed the world. God has brought an end to the old covenant and ushered in a new covenant, joining Jews and Gentiles in one new people.

Historia
There is an increasing awareness in Evangelical Christianity of the tremendous redemptive-eschatological significance of the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70. That event is no longer being seen as simply the destruction of the Jewish capital. It is becoming more and more clear that the fall of that city had tremendous spiritual importance. In spite of this growing awareness and appreciation of the events of AD 70, it is increasingly common, especially in the Amillennial and Postmillennial world, to claim that the end of the age judgment in AD 70 was a type of the real “end of the world.” This...

We tend to think of the Holy Spirit as the straggler of the Trinity, a latecomer in God's interaction with the world. But our first introduction to the Holy Spirit is not the drama of Pentecost in the second chapter of Acts. We first meet the Holy Spirit in the second verse of the Bible, hovering there, speaking the world into existence. Christopher Wright begins here and traces the Holy Spirit through the pages of the Old Testament.

Set in the pre-Christian world of Glome on the outskirts of Greek civilization, it is a tale of two princesses: the beautiful Psyche, who is loved by the god of love himself, and Orual, Psyche's unattractive and embittered older sister, who loves Psyche with a destructive possessiveness. Her frustration and jealousy over Psyche's fate sets Orual on the troubled path of self-discovery. Lewis's last work of fiction, this is often considered his best by critics.

Often called Paul’s magnum opus, Romans has been pivotal to Christians’ understanding of salvation for generations. It had a profound influence on Augustine and Luther. Calvin saw it as the key to understanding all of Scripture. In this volume, Dr. R.C. Sproul introduces us to Paul’s fullest, grandest, most comprehensive statement of the gospel and explains why it is just as vital for believers today as it has been for believers throughout history. Verse by verse, Dr. Sproul unfolds the vast truths that Paul has clearly and carefully woven throughout this book.
