I wasn’t sure in the beginning if I like it or not, but I ended up loving it!

The premise of this book excited me, but by the end I was left unimpressed. I am currently reading The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary on my Kindle, and so far, it’s a five star read for me. So, I was very excited when I found out about this book by Beth O’Leary. The romance in this book is a slow burn, but even by those standards, it felt like it moved at turtle speed. Also, just a personal preference, but I would’ve liked a little smut in this one. The romance scenes were a little disappointing. Also, I went into this one expecting a Christmas read, and it wasn’t as Christmas-y as it could’ve been. Overall, it was cute, but not my favorite.

A delightful love story perfect for the season, The Wake Up Call, ticked all my boxes, except maybe it was just a little too long.

Never connected with any of the characters and the story was so boring. The lost ring story line was very lame. I loved Flatshare so this book was really a disappointment. I jumped forward a few times to see if the story improved; it never did and I finally gave up.

I loved The Flatshare — like listened to it over 20 times, maybe 30. Her other books have been good, but they have not struck the same note as that first one, until this one. From the moment it began I kept thinking “This is the one I’ve been waiting for! This is the one I’ve been waiting for!“ I am so happy to have a new favorite and am already hitting start again.
