Acerca de esta escucha

Author Jennifer Chiaverini’s beloved, heartwarming series continues with this celebration of family and friendship. As the wedding day of Sarah McClure’s daughter Caroline approaches, Sarah’s thoughts are filled with brides of Elm Creek Manor past and present. A wedding quilt is a powerful metaphor, and Sarah is determined that the blocks in her daughter’s quilt will display a vivid pastiche of love in all its varieties.

If you could sum up The Wedding Quilt in three words, what would they be?

Family, Quilters, Bonding

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sarah for her quiet strength. Her love for her family and friends.

Have you listened to any of Christina Moore???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only in the Elm Creek series. Christina Moore does an excellent job of bringing each character to life. I feel like I am listening to an old friend telling me a story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

At the beginning, I was surprised and sad to have the book start out 25 years later as in 2028. Sarah and Matt???s twins are now grown. One is working at Elm Creek and the other one is getting married and going to medical school. Sarah has become a well-known author on the history of quilts and proprietress of Elm Creek.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book to all Elm Creek readers.
In Jennifer???s style of storytelling, she merges past and present. Throughout the book, Sarah reminisces about past events as she welcomes family and friends back to Elm Creek in preparation for the wedding. There???s more than one wedding being celebrated in this book.
I learned about Sylvia getting more information on her Cousin Elizabeth???s family, and what Bonnie decided to do after she came back from Hawaii. I caught up with Gwen and Summer along with Diane???s family. I heard more about the new members - Anne and Maggie. I even learned more about the Civil War quilters and their Union Hall. I would have liked to have heard more about Gretchen and her husband along with Andrew. They are mentioned, but not as much as the others.
Halfway through I began to wonder if this was the last of the Elm Creek series. It sort of felt like the end since a lot of unfinished stories were being given an ending, but Jennifer has confirmed there will be more Elm Creek books in the future.

I'm so glad I didn't listen to the nay sayers and went ahead and downloaded this book. What a perfect way to finish out this beloved series!!

Glad I took a chance!

Was hesitant because this jumps so far from the last book in time, but she did such a great job filling in all the gaps!

Love the elm creek quilt books!

Since I'm reading all of the Elm Creek Books, it's like coming back to a familiar zone and meeting up with old friends. Even the switching back and forth in time is done in such a way that I know which time frame she's in. It's a good read - not really exciting, but still very good. The kind of book I need when I want to escape the stress of real life.

Comfort Book

So many wonderful things about this series, and this book is as good as all the rest. The series follows a group of people from the same area of Pennsylvania from the civil war through present day. Such love and joy and some sorrow, create memorable stories that stay with you for a long time. They are in my library to listen to again. The same narrator reads all the books, and she is terrific.

A Whole Series About The Relationships Among Women

A continuation in the lives of the Elm Creek quilters series this book touches on the emotions that come with blood related family and the families we create by choice. I always laugh, cry about but mostly anticipate what will happen in the next. The Elm Creek quilters series is nothing but pleasure!

Chiaverini never disappoints!

Where does The Wedding Quilt rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's impossible to rank most of them: this series stands on its own, and since the characters are like family, well, how can you rank family??

What other book might you compare The Wedding Quilt to and why?

Not really comparable to any, because it starts with a wedding in 2028. Nothing really exciting or sci-fi -ish, it's just that the characters we saw born have grown up. Although, they do all drive electric cars and use tablets only.

Which character – as performed by Christina Moore – was your favorite?

I love Sarah! She has such a loving heart, and the book really exposes her heart. Christina Moore becomes these characters....if she doesn't do the books in this series, I don't know if I could listen- it would be just too strange!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Elm Creek Quilters are still around; a few are gone, and a few are new: and now the twins are grown!

Any additional comments?

I know/knew that Sylvia couldn't live forever, but I sure did feel her absence. I have mixed emotions about whether I'd have wanted to attend her final years; I feel like she was a family member, so I want to be there, but it would have been so heart rending.

As usual, Jennifer Chiaverini does herself proud

Would you listen to The Wedding Quilt again? Why?

Yes, this book is wonderful. I like the way she works the past, present, and future. There is something that you missed the first time I listened to it.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the way she brought the twins into the book, and get them all grown up and married.

Have you listened to any of Christina Moore???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Christine Moore's performances are wonderful. I love when I get a book and Christine is narrating the book. Here exprescence in her voice draw you into the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

I thoroughly enjoyed the way the author viewed the future. Very realistic, a few expected advancements but not 'sci-fi-ish' the way some authors seem to be unable to resist.

This seems a normal continuation of the Elm Creek Quilters' lives. Aging, death, illness, marriage, new jobs, moving around. The circle of life.

Great story and great reading!

Thoroughly enjoyed!

I was quite surprised at the way this book was written. I was expecting a continuation of the story of the characters that Jennifer has created, but instead she went "fast forward" about 20 some years! Then she used reflections backward to fill in the story of what has happened in the lives of each of her characters. I enjoyed it very much, but certainly would recommend that anyone reading it be sure to read previous books first, or they might have a difficult time figuring out all of the connections.

Fast Forward from the last book
