Weatherhead had some amazing insight about God's will, his "intentional," "circumstantial," and "ultimate" will. These distinctions were important to Weatherhead and his wartime congregation as it should be important to us today. His powerful insight shows how God can use circumstances in a broken world to bring about His work for the good of all mankind, even in the midst of horrible chaos and war.

I strongly disagree with what Weatherhead taught about the Cross in this book. I do not consider the Cross as a Plan B or C as he suggests it might have been but as the one and only way to save the human family.

I also found the narration of this book to be particularly dry.

Despite those shortcomings the book, which is a collection of World War II sermons give some inspiring insight into the mind and character of God and it is worth reading/listening.

While there were moments where the material seemed quite dated, it nevertheless provided several thought provoking theological insights. The narrator was difficult to listen listen to.

The voice almost made me nauseous and the delivery was so bad I had to quit early

The narration by Bruce Mann was hard for me to listen to. He speaks in a very stilted, British accent, emphasizing every sentence in a preaching tone that is somehow completely monotone — unlike any real preacher I’ve heard.
