Caught between renegade magic and cranky religion, what's a poor wizard supposed to do? When the King of Yurt goes on vacation, leaving his Royal Wizard Daimbert in charge, he is faced with the escalating crises of the cranky saint of the shrine of the Holy Toe, an all-too-beguiling wood nymph, bizarre horned rabbits, a scandalous duchess, the royal nephew's mid-life crisis, and a monstrous creature made with spells they never taught at the wizards' school. Daimbert had hoped - he thought - for a little more excitement and adventure, but at this rate the king won't have a kingdom to come home to.

My only gripe is in the editing of this audiobook: it's as if they removed every-single pause causing much of the story to sound like one long run on sentence. The narrator is excellent, does amazing voices, and inflicts great emotion, so I feel really bad to knock a star off in performance category, but it was extremely distracting!!
Overall a very enjoyable listen.
I feel bad for an excellent narrator

You know how sometimes there is thematic music playing during a books chapter opening, or perhaps music at the beginning and end of the entire book? That's normal and I can totally take and enjoy that. But be aware that the audio version I just listened to (The audible version as of 8-12-16) had music come and go at very strange moments. I thought it was just being more dramatic and thought it was going to be exciting; it wasn't.
Key moments had music playing so loud that I couldn't head what was happening. It only really happens near the end of the book, but it does happen near the climax so it's not helpful at all and breaks my pace.
I had to switch to the kindle version to get past these spots so I could move on.
Again, I really enjoyed the performance and story and if you enjoyed the first book, you will enjoy this one as well, but I hope the audiobook gets fixed.
I loved the parts I could hear

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I'm stingy with my Audible credits. I usually look for books that are 20 hours or more. But after reading another story that was all gloom and doom I tried the Royal Wizard of Yurt books. They are fantastic. What does Eric Vincent bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Eric Vincent really brings these characters to life.Great second book in the series.

Would you listen to The Wood Nymph and the Cranky Saint again? Why?
Absolutely!! This story and the world of Yurt is extremely imaginative and original. Eric Vincent's voice SELLS this story with his performance. What did you like best about this story?
Daimbert and his personality. He is still a slightly incompetent wizard who tries his best, and is a flawed character. He really doesn't try to be more than he is, and admits to himself when he is over his head. His moral dilemmas are what makes him so endearing.Which character – as performed by Eric Vincent – was your favorite?
This is a tough decision. Either Daimbert's 1st person narrative voice, or Daimbert's predecessor the 'old wizard'. Eric Vincent's portrayal if a grizzled old wizard is flawless and laugh out loud hilarious! If you could sum up A Bad Spell in Yurt in three words, what would they be?Imaginative, witty, fantasical.I have listened to hundreds upon hundreds of audio books. Eric Vincent is EASILY in the top 3 narrators I have EVER heard. His voice of Daimbert(and the other characters) is absolutely FLAWLESS. I found myself just snuggled up on my couch and following along with the audiobook to my paperback copy of the book. It is about time this ingenious series has been put to audio, and the narrator could not possibly be better!!If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
We could only be so lucky if Hollywood actually made the Yurt books into big budget movies.Any additional comments?
The World of Yurt books by C. Dale Brittain, are by far one of the best series of fantasy I have ever read. I have read thousands of fantasy books. I would never get tired of the world of Yurt, and the character of Daimbert. I wish there were 50 of these books to the series. Sadly there are only 6...hopefully the series will always continue. This is light hearted fanatasy--it is very whimsical, witty, and colorful. With each page, you can FEEL the world that Brittain has created. You simply don't read these books--you SEE them. Each novel is FUN, and you are saddened when the story ends because you persistently want MORE.If you ever get tired of reading the darker gritty stuff(which I do), 'The World of Yurt' books are the PERFECT escapism. You will not regret it.Another fantastical tale of Royal Wizard Daimbert
