Acerca de esta escucha
"I loved this profound, practical, and generous book."—Oliver Burkeman
A transformative guide to rethinking our approach to goals, creativity, and life itself from a neuroscientist and entrepreneur, and the creator of the popular Ness Labs newsletter
Life isn’t linear, and yet we constantly try to mold it around linear goals: four-year college degrees, ten-year career plans, thirty-year mortgages. What if instead we approached life as a giant playground for experimentation? Based on ancestral philosophy and the latest scientific research, Tiny Experiments provides a desperately needed reframing: Uncertainty can be a state of expanded possibility and a space for metamorphosis.
Neuroscientist and entrepreneur Anne-Laure Le Cunff reveals that all you need is an experimental mindset to turn challenges into self-discovery and doubt into opportunity. Listeners will replace the old linear model of success with a circular model of growth in which goals are discovered, pursued, and adapted—not in a vacuum, but in conversation with the larger world.
Throughout the book, you will ask hard questions and design simple yet meaningful experiments to find the answers. You will learn how to break free from the invisible cognitive scripts that shape your life, how to harness the power of imperfection, and how to make smarter decisions when the path forward is unclear.
This is a guide to:
• Discover your true ambitions through conducting tiny personal experiments
• Dismantle harmful beliefs about success that have kept you stuck
• Dare to make decisions true to your own aspirations
• Stop trying to find your purpose and start living instead
Tiny Experiments offers not just practical tools to make sure our most vital work gets done, but a guide to reawakening our curiosity and drive in a noisy, busy, disaffected world, so that we can discover and pursue our most authentic ambitions while making a meaningful contribution.
* This audiobook edition includes a downloadable PDF containing the Experimentalist Toolkit, Reflection Guide, Glossary and Acknowledgments from the book.

On the other side of the life you are trying to keep together, on the other side of the pain you think will never dissolve into peace, on the other side of everything you are forcing—is the life that is waiting. The life where you are not pushed by your fears, but moved by your vision. The life where the right things arrive, and remain, and you do not have to contort your truth to make them so.

In recent years, Olga Khazan had been spiraling toward an existential crisis. Though she treasured her loving, long-term relationship and her dream job, she often caught herself snatching dissatisfaction from the jaws of happiness. Her neurotic overachieving had always been a professional asset, but lately, Olga felt that her brittle disposition could shatter under the weight of just one more thing. She knew something had to give—but was it really possible to change her entire approach to life?

Overwork is the new normal. Rest is something to do when the important things are done - but they are never done. Looking at different forms of rest, from sleep to vacation, Silicon Valley futurist and business consultant Alex Soojung-Kim Pang dispels the myth that the harder we work the better the outcome. He combines rigorous scientific research with a rich array of examples of writers, painters, and thinkers - from Darwin to Stephen King - to challenge our tendency to see work and relaxation as antithetical.

Historia
In Joel's Schwartzberg's 10-plus years as a strategic communications trainer, the biggest obstacle he's come across - one that connects directly to nervousness, stammering, rambling, and epic fail - is that most speakers and writers don't have a point. They typically have just a title, a theme, a topic, an idea, an assertion, a catchphrase, or even something much less. This book shows you how to identify your point, leverage it, stick to it, and sell it and how to train others to identify and successfully make their own points.

Every person is born a creator, but the world has conditioned us to believe that we are not. Most of us are not fulfilled because we have forgotten who we truly are and what we were created to do — create. There is a reason that one of the most fulfilling, expansive, and healing actions we can do as humans is to create using our gifts. The reason many of us do not create is not that we don’t know how, but simply that we are afraid and think ourselves out of it, even though we know deep down it is what we want to be doing every single day.

Nobody needs telling there isn’t enough time. We’re obsessed with our lengthening to-do lists, our overfilled inboxes, work-life balance, and the ceaseless battle against distraction; and we’re deluged with advice on becoming more productive and efficient, and “life hacks” to optimize our days. But such techniques often end up making things worse. The sense of anxious hurry grows more intense, and still the most meaningful parts of life seem to lie just beyond the horizon.

This is the case for Shigehiro Oishi's father, who has lived in a small mountain town in Japan for his entire life, putting his family's needs above his own, like his father and grandfather before him. But is a happy life, or even a meaningful life, the only path to a good life? In Life in Three Dimensions, Shige Oishi enters into a debate that has animated psychology since 1984, when Ed Diener (Oishi's mentor) published a paper that launched happiness studies.

But as esteemed Stanford psychologist Greg Walton shows, when we see these questions clearly, we can answer them well. Known to social psychologists as wise interventions, these shifts in perspective can help us chart new trajectories for our lives. They help us spiral up. This is ordinary magic: The ordinary experiences that help us set aside the ordinary worries of life to unleash extraordinary change.

Whether it’s anxiety about going to the doctor, boiling rage when we’re stuck in traffic, or devastation after a painful break-up, our lives are filled with situations that send us spiraling. But as difficult as our emotions can be, they are also a superpower. Far from being “good” or “bad,” emotions are information. When they’re activated in the right ways and at the right time, they function like an immune system, alerting us to our surroundings, telling us how to react to a situation, and helping us make the right choices. But how do we make our emotions work for us rather than against us?

But the devil is at her back, tempting her with impure thoughts about her tutor, Samuel. Her parents, deeply ashamed of their libidinous daughter, do everything they can to keep Elisa’s thoughts from bodily pleasures. Love this fresh approach to creating a vibrant life and career!
Tiny Experiments unveils a new way to approach the things you want to accomplish- as experiments rather than goals. By creating a pact with yourself to focus on your efforts, not your results, you can enjoy the process and tweak along the way without feeling like you are giving up when changes are needed. At the end of the pact you decide what's next! by focusing on action, you take steps and do the work, which is what simply setting a goal may lack. Can't wait to start running the tiny experiments for myself!

A Refreshing Take on Growth and Creativity!
As a long-time Ness Labs member, I was thrilled to finally meet Anne-Laure Le Cunff in person and to be part of the small group that got to hear the name Tiny Experiments first. It was amazing to see how perfectly the title captured the essence of her work and writing over the years.
The book's focus on embracing curiosity, imperfection, and small-scale experiments really resonated with me—especially since I often try out small projects just to see what sticks. The idea of learning in public and sharing progress, even when it's not perfect, was a powerful reminder that growth is a process, not a destination.
I also appreciated the practical tips for making better decisions and challenging limiting beliefs without feeling overwhelmed. Anne-Laure's approach to iterative learning and embracing uncertainty makes the advice feel doable and encouraging rather than intimidating.
If you're looking for a book that celebrates curiosity and experimentation without the pressure of rigid goals, Tiny Experiments is a must-read.

Curiosity Over Certainty: A Listener’s Gratitude
Listening to Tiny Experiments felt like an invitation, not to master anything, but to explore, to wonder, and to try. I’m especially inspired by Anne-Laure’s choice to record in English, her second language. It gives me courage to someday do the same as one of my own tiny experiments.
Her framing to prioritize curiosity and community over convention, certainty, and continuity has been transformative for me. So much so that I started my own podcast Nevermet Jen just yesterday, with my parents as my very first guests! I want to get better at listening, at communicating in conversation, and this spirit of small, sincere steps toward growth is something I credit directly to Anne-Laure’s work.
Thank you, Anne-Laure, for everything you do — your research, your risks, and your reminders that experiments, especially tiny ones, can change our lives.
