So much of this book had me thinking how dumb the leaders of the fleet were. The terrible training and lack of consideration for capability. setting expectations on a kid developed his talent " 5 minutes ago".

I really enjoyed the book. it has the same prose "issues" I get in most of author's books (listened to 4) meaning I love the wolrd building, like the plot, kind if meh on the prose.
still, surely will continue to the next in the series

what a great book. story is really good. pacing is a bit slow at times but overall it's worth the credit

I am looking forward to the next book. Sometimes, I was frustrated with the characters forgetting things that them and the audience learned at the same time but that is typical stuff. I hope there is more Titan time and combat in the next book. This one defines the setting well.

Pretty good story, great narration. There are some oddities with the world building that could be oversights or setup for something, will just have to wait and see.

I'm weak, Im weak, I'm weak, I 'm a coward over and over. The training/motivation/methods get silly the last chapters. When the MC has hismoment I didn't cheer I said about timeI'm weak, 🥶 m weak, I'm weak, I ma a coward over and over. The training/motivation/methods get silly the last chapters. While i did enjoyed the book i was hoping for more especially after reading the description with the he will rip the gates open, well there was no ripping open anything. and i was not a fan of the POV chapters of the emo paladin and found him hilarious when he said that he wanted to change the divide of the fleet when he is an elitist that doesn't care about the "talentless". Now the MC was really nothing especial he is just average nothing that makes him standout other than the manifestation of his talent. i will be buying the next book but if the emo paladin keeps getting chapters I'll probably drop the book i didn't liked him at all or the spoiled sisters and it looks like the author wants to make him a second mc.

The background for this book is kept decidedly unclear, but after finishing it, I'm getting a strong "Orphans of the Sky" (Heinlein) vibe with an admixture of progression fantasy.

We have a fleet of small ships apparently parasitizing enormous "Titans", which are infested with monsters of many types. To survive, the humans on those small ships need to send Hoppers (people with magical(?) powers) onto a Titan to harvest supplies. And apparently the technology on the Titans is compatible with the technology on the small ships.

Like in Orphans of the Sky, the people here seem to have little or no understanding of how they came to be in their current situation. This results in a strong post-apocalyptic feel to the story, even though it's not the traditional post-apoc setting.

Character development is strong, with several well-drawn characters who undergo interesting changes in the course of the book. The setting is only sketched it, but this seems to be intentional. And the plot is solid, though it depends a bit much on smug superiority for its villains (other than the PvE villains, of course.)

While I'm not generally a fan of the post-apoc vibe in my books, the admixture of progression fantasy tempers that for me. I'll be continuing the series.

Orphans of the Sky meets Progression Fantasy

this is a mixed scifi with fantasy and splash in some progression style litrpg. zero stats and state pages but there is a cool power system that gives magic like abilities to these future humans in space. they are so many generations removed from earth that they don't know what a planet is. MC and supporting trainee's are kinda clueless, the book doesn't really go to deep into world building but it feels like it's intentional so we have as many questions as the MC begins to have. looking forward to the rest of the story.
