Acerca de esta escucha

John Scott hiked the 2160 mile Appalachian Trail to celebrate his life.

As a teenage boy in 1970's Scotland he was fascinated by US politics and culture.

John explores this fascination as he hikes through 14 states from Georgia to Maine.

Over miles and months, he realizes it is the land and people which now captivates him.

To the Woods is a walk through a man's life.

Summary... goes on perpetuating America/American stereotypes. As normal, if your left leaning politically you're fine. If right leaning you're homophobic, and potentially racist gun toting murderer 🤷‍♂️ potential for a good book, but mostly drab and will leave you wanting to listen to story about hiking. (also, I'm not left or right, just a guy looking for a good book).

Hiking?

If you want to hear someone from another country explain to you how stupid Americans are this is the book for you. We have too many cars, not enough passenger trains and too many guns. In addition we are all ignorant and racist. I am sure he had more complaints but I deleted the book half way through. The book is more about the authors pompous opinions and political views than the trail or the hiking community. If you’re into that sort of thing you will love this book.

Terrible

An ethnocentric condescending narrative revolving more around social class, politics and culure than the adventure of a thru hike.

Worst hiking book in existence.
