Acerca de esta escucha

Looking to listen to one of the most exhilarating, captivating, and just plain ol' all-around best history books on three of the most intriguing decades of United States and world history?

What made the 1920s the most progressive period? Why were the 1930s considered the most discouraged decade? Want the true facts of the '20s, '30s, and '40s? This is not just a book by historians, but by real people who lived in the best of times, the worst of times, and the most tragic times.

Some say history is just opinion without fact. Some seem to know everything dealing with historical events and yet know so very little. Even with my learning, with an AA, BA, and MA+, I have come to the realization that dealing with history, I only know about the surface and a few feet under. What I have learned is the one who truly knows history is the one who lived through the events.

I'm a patriotic Vietnam veteran who loves talking about factual United States history. I assigned my students to interview people who lived through the Great Depression and World War II, and the stories were so incredible, intoxicating, and captivating that I promised them I would write the best US history book using their great grandparents, relatives, and neighbors who lived during those crucial periods of United States history.

The author/narrator is nice guy who wanders down memory lane and seems to feel he is still teaching young students. When he mentions the use of oxen to pull wagons he stops and describes physically what an oxen is. The author has a kind message in his personal stories but does ramble a bit. The narration is amateurish with a homespun feel. If your looking for the nuts and bolts of history this is not for you. But if you enjoyed the stories your grandfather told you may enjoy this book.

Not what I expected

Purported to be driven by letters and interviews from those of the time and events, but really small snippets of this launch highly opinionated lens charterizations.

false advertising all the way around

Don't listen to this if you are afflicted with misophonia, or the irrational hatred of some sounds like mouth noises, and lip smacking.
I'm sorry that I could not listen to this long enough to rate it properly but the narrator's mouth noises were sending me up a wall. I do realize that reviews are only for those who have listened to the whole thing, but I just couldn't. If you don't have any problem with these noises, fine. Listen away!
