Our home is cold inside. Drapes and blinds are closed tightly, keeping out the bright light from the full moon. I awaken suddenly, hearing the sounds of the fireplace crackling as the wood burns down to ashes. The bed under my body feels cool, then a warm, abundant flow of liquid starts moving toward me. I moved my hand under the covers and felt a syrup-like substance, the texture warm and smooth. Sitting up, reaching for the light on the stand, I turn the switch. The lamp shines brightly, and all I see is blood covering our bed. My vision focuses on my wife, Sally, as I extend my arm in her direction. I feel warm fluid everywhere and see her body covered in blood and what appears to be multiple stab wounds. My heart violently pounds as I let out a scream of bewilderment.
“My God, what has happened?” Sitting up, I touch her still body, and it’s cold. Devastated, I cannot move. “What have I done?” This is the first question crossing my mind. I awaken in fright, opening my eyes to visualize it as all a horrible nightmare.
