Lawrence S. DiCara
Turmoil and Transition in Boston tells the personal and political story of Larry DiCara, the youngest person ever elected to the Boston City Council. DiCara's story is intimately woven into the fate of his hometown of Boston. As the federal court order mandating busing to achieve racial integration in the public schools ripped apart his city, he shows how public policy decisions and economic and demographic changes from that time transformed Boston into one of America's most diverse, affluent, and successful cities in the 21st century.

What about Lawrence S. DiCara’s performance did you like?
I did not live in Boston during the late seventies, but author Larry DiCara made me feel as if I had been there during the divisive, turbulent, years when a young Harvard graduate (DiCara), motivated by the simple, powerful idea - that he might play a part in the rebirth of Boston – won his seat on the Boston City Council - the youngest successful candidate ever. Thus began DiCara’s active participation in the most unpredictable and transformative decade in the city’s history.DiCara is a wonderful, natural story teller. Turmoil and Transition in Boston is truly one of the best written books that I have ever enjoyed listening to. If you have never been to Boston or if you have lived here most of your life – you will love living through this decade all over again!
Any additional comments?
I certainly hope there more DiCara books in the future - and soon!Revisit Boston's Turbulent Rebirth
