Acerca de esta escucha
In this serial adventure sequel to Valengetrix: Ghost of Aratania, explore the wilds of Auropia from the mountain forests of Tekkar to the uncharted depths of the Netherchasm and beyond. Dangers abound, where lost civilizations become the haunt of perilous foes, guarding untold riches. Bloodied sword meets diabolical sorcery, and the shining kingdoms of Auropia are caught in its wake.
To survive, one must become more than just a man, but a lion amongst men.
Excerpt from "The Good King's War (Part 1)"
Steel ran red with the blood of men and horses alike. Viscera and sinew, brains and entrails decorated the shattered stonework like a ghastly portrait of slaughter made manifest by a butcher of sadistic artistry. Spears met shield and the front lines of the conflict shifted with each soldier who fell beneath the tread of an enemy boot. Whatever humanity remained of those caught up in this great conflagration, had long since diminished into nothingness; replaced by the primal instinct for survival.
The winds of winter had already begun to blow when the fiercest of fighting since the onset of war commenced. Nearly a week had passed from that fateful charge of Leongardian cavalry into the heart of the fray, and already their numbers remained half what they set out with. The slain steeds of their likewise unfortunate riders became a feast for the starving soldiers of both armies, for they suffered not only from war and cold but from hunger.
A new sunrise presented a fresh exchange of violence, and today was no different from the last in that regard. Riding high in the saddle of a Vamnayan stallion, Valengetrix crashed solidly against the line of Mar-Es-Hain infantry, thrusting a heavy lance effortlessly through the rough-cut armor of his nearest foe. Through his visored helm, he could see the fear in their dark eyes though he’d not yet drawn the sword they feared most of all. At his side, the cavalry of Leongard followed suit, harrying the enemy back, inch by inch, granting the infantry a new foothold of blood-soaked earth.
From the front came the sound of the panic-stricken cries of dying men. From the rear, the defiant roars of the rushing infantry.
Against the wishes of his advisors, Valengetrix stood apart from the rest of the cavalrymen not only by his sword but the shield of Old Aratania he refused to substitute. Despite such protestations, he wished for his presence to be known upon the battlefield as an effort to instill both inspiration for his men and chaos for his enemies. From his vantage, he could make out the Mar-Es-Hain battlements below, and with each charge he sought to bring his soldiers ever closer to the center of their operation. There he intended to cut out the rotting heart and end this war before it festered into an abomination of unrestrained proportions. Time, it seemed, was his greatest obstacle.
