What would happen if Odin decided to get involved in Midgard again?

Moving from one dangerous case to another, Valerie can't understand why she is loving the running and gunning aspect of her new job way more than any sane person should.

Then there is the obscure historical knowledge that she shouldn't know . . . and yet.

Valerie isn't a wallflower, but she is having difficulties coming to grips with the new abilities and odd thoughts that emerge as she is drawn deeper into her new reality. Can Valerie figure out why she is changing before she lands herself and Jacob in trouble too deep to escape?

The main protagonist of the story is named Valerie, with a last name (phonetically) Kyrie, and is frequently called Val Kyrie by her coworkers. She has grown up with a military family and trained in martial arts.

Being recruited by Valkyrie, Inc. she is sent on a ‘testing’ op. I’m still not sure why they sent her to a potential hotbed on her 2nd day. But she has been touched by Odin and things evolve from there.

Well read and interesting premise, I do like a book with strong women.

Well Michael you have my attention again. Valkyrie will be a wonderful series. Some woo woo and urban thriller. This is a young woman who is a Valkyrie in a past life and is again wakened by Mr. Big. She is starting to manifest but is unaware yet.
Her family is all military and Black ops. Now she has become a contractor with a specialty in security, cybersecurity, and protecting intellectual property.
I really just started but am so impressed that I had to start this review. Very nice. I miss Bethany Anne but Val will be great. Try it and see.

I can deduce from the name and the subject matter that this story has more depth than what appears here. I'm not sure what to make of it yet and will wait to hold judgment off until the next installment.

First off, I'd say that there's some interesting stuff here. The main character comes off a bit too badass but given her skill set and experiences, I'd say that's more fortune that someone like her is put in these positions rather than her just being good at everything. We are shown a few glimpses here and there that things may not be as they seem, but are never given enough in my opinion to pick up the next book to get to the meat and potatoes of whats going on.

There's a few times in the book where your typical spy/thriller thing is happening, a character may say something to subvert those expectations by going "I dunno, that seems a bit too typical" and then the thing the first character said turns out to be true. Kind of annoying.

The narrator is pretty good, but some of the Irish accents were a bit over the top. Overall, i kind of liked the book and was excited to see the whole Valkyrie angle come into play... but it doesn't really. And i understand pacing of books and all of that but when you get a book for its basic premise the fact it barely comes up at all in the first book typically doesn't make me want to pick up the second. It just makes me f eel like the first was a let down. Different strokes for different folks. Maybe others like that more?
