Fiona MacPhee is a woman with a mission - and a very dark secret. Sidekick to Joan Armstrong, a famous demon hunter, Fiona must scour Edinburgh for the answer to a cryptic prophecy before an ancient evil rends the veil between the worlds at Samhain. She can't afford any distractions. Especially not from Rory MacLaren. A handsome, charming rogue, Rory has also been a vampire for 260 years. When Rory catches Fiona in a deserted wynd after midnight, his offer of help could not be better - or more suspiciously - timed.
Vampire Close is a wonderfully imaginative story with intriguing characters, two romances, a bit of mystery and even some horror. The relationships that grow among the main characters are well defined, and their accents have an authentic sound. The ending leaves you longing for more.

The vividly described tale was funny and mysterious but it had intrigue, witty dialogue along with some twists and surprises in store for the listener and it hinted at more than one romance. However, the main one was between Rory a gorgeous, charismatic, sexy, 260 year old Vampire and Fiona the 'Buffy's' sidekick (I daren't say more about her). There was, of course, an evil villain to vanquish so there was action as an Apocalyptical event loomed and a prophecy to unravel. It contained one sex scene but it didn't go 'all the way'.
As this was a self published book I felt, imho, that it could have been improved slightly by the addition of a final chapter or two as well as a few loose ends being tied up (and of course to have been a bit hotter) however, despite this it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the story but it did lose a star because of it.
Worth a credit? Yes definitely and I think Susanne Saville is an author to watch out for.
A VERY ENJOYABLE & ENTERTAINING MYSTERY/ROMANCE
