Acerca de esta escucha

Join actors from television's Star Trek as they recreate this classic radio thriller. The breathless pace and convincing details make it clear why the 1938 broadcast caused a nationwide panic. You may panic too...as horrifying life forms emerge from a strange object in a New Jersey farmer's field. War of the Worlds is truly the mother of all space invasions, offering a rare combination of thrills, chills, and great literature.

Performed by a full cast including Leonard Nimoy, Brent Spiner, and Gates McFadden - this production also includes an interview with McFadden, better known as Beverly Crusher on The Next Generation.

You'll also want to hear an unabridged version of H.G. Wells' original novel.(P)1994 L.A. Theatre Works, All Rights Reserved

Reseñas de la Crítica

"With brilliantly appropriate casting, L.A. Theatre Works presents a reinterpretation of Orson Welles' radio adaptation of War of the Worlds....Fifty-nine years after its original broadcast, War of the Worlds still sends waves of fear through listeners as they hear reports of the destruction of modern life by aliens from Mars. Leonard Nimoy's Professor Pierson is rendered with grace and poignancy as the last man on earth. Brent Spiner is excellent in his role as the stranger in the latter half of the piece. With its heart-racing pace and fantastic sound effects, War of the Worlds reminds us how realistic radio drama can be." (AudioFile)

I have not heard a radio adaptation of War of the World in over 25 years. This is a masterful work that had me sitting and rapt in front of a radio like a kid again.

Where does War of the Worlds (Dramatized) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is one of my favorite full-cast purchases - it really captures the feel of the original radio broadcast.

What was one of the most memorable moments of War of the Worlds (Dramatized)?

The first time I heard Leonard Nimoy's voice I nearly wept. He is flawless.

Which scene was your favorite?

When the professor is alone, writing his journal, fearing that he has seen the end of the world as he knows it, the narrative and Nimoy's voice are heart-wrenching.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I shed tears a few times, and the tension was palpable.

Halloween perfecction!

I the cast here. All actors are superb. Dwight Shultz is utterly awesome. Gates Mc Fadden did a great job as the reporter. I totally fell in love with this adaptation.

I could imagine what it was like when it first aired all those years ago and how the people might have felt hearing it and thinking it was real. The cast was amazing!
