Acerca de esta escucha

A man torn between two continents finds himself in a dangerous confrontation between tradition and corruption.

Solo is a former cop who ran away from a dark past in France to start his life over again in Bamako, Mali, as a PI. An ordinary case turns out to be not so ordinary. The drug mule gets her throat slit. The French lawyer is too beautiful and too well informed. The cocaine is too plentiful. This is hard-boiled noir with a modern twist set in West Africa.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Fans of classic hard-boiled PI fiction will relish Guillame's first book to be translated into English.... He delivers a tale of high-level corruption that will resonate with James Ellroy readers." (Publishers Weekly)
"This is crime fiction as hard-boiled as it gets. Guillaume, winner of literary prizes in France, is likely to win fans here, too." (Booklist)
"West Africa is brought vividly to life in this enthralling, fast-paced noir." (Foreword Reviews)

The narration is excellent and I learned a lot about Mali that I previously would have been hard pressed to identify on a map. The main character is likable and sustains a story that otherwise would have been irritating with its deus ex machine twists

A guy's story with sex and gore, but...

I enjoyed the detective story based in Mali, Africa; and I liked the narrators french accent. I would recommend if you’re looking for something a bit different.

Interesting detective
