Acerca de esta escucha

Most people think I’m a moron. In actuality, I’m a man with a plan.

It’s one of those three-year plans that takes longer than three years.

Still, I’ve been making it happen. Checking off those to-dos and turning them into to-dones.

Everything is almost lined up.

And then my phone rings.

By the time I get to Jess, she’s unconscious and bleeding.

My carefully crafted plan blows up in my face.

I tell the hospital we’re engaged. We aren’t, but apparently, in that place, you need a permission slip to see your most important, so I do what has to be done.

I toss together an epic apology salad for when she opens her eyes, and when she does…She asks me who I am.

I’m willing to overlook the insult since, you know, head injury, but then Nurszilla spills the beans on our pending nuptials.

And just like that, my friend turns into my fiancé, and I’m not even mad at it.

How could I be? Her curves fit in my arms perfectly. Kissing her is like whoa and makes me forget I’m living a lie.

I know I have to come clean, but someone dirtier than me is stalking my final girl, and until she remembers who, it’s on me to keep her safe.

The closer we get, the guiltier I feel.

When all this is over, will she forgive me? Or will everything I’ve done cost me everything I’ve always wanted?

WHOA is a college sports romance novel and can be listened to as a standalone.

Whoa is the 6th book in the Westbrook Elite series. These books could be read as a standalone, but I enjoy reading them in order so we can see when the characters from other books come in.

This book is about Ben and Jessica and is told from both of their points of view. Ben and Jessica have been friends for a long time. This book starts out with something happening and Jessica loses her memory. At the hospital Ben tells the nurses he's her fiancée so he can be with her.

As Jessica is trying to get her memory back Ben is realizing he has feelings more than friendship. However, what will happen when Jessica gets her memory back? Can they find who did this to Jessica in the first place before it's to late?

I enjoyed this book. I loved Ben's funny one liners, and getting to know these two. There were times I wanted to know more about one of the side characters, so I'm excited his story is next! I can't wait to see what happens next in the series. I have been enjoying this one.

Cambria has a way of crafting stories and characters that make you wanna be in their group. The bros of Westbury are no different.
I love these characters.
While each story has its own dramatics, Cambria took this story a direction I didn't anticipate and I couldn't stop listening.

back with my bros

I love this series by Cambria and this book did not disappoint. Kruger was so protective and obsessive (in a good way) over Jess and when she gets hurt he can’t control himself and wants to take away her pain and stress any way he can.

I love Jess’ character too. She was fierce and so badass throughout the book asking for exactly what she wanted and not being afraid to call Kruger out on his BS.

I can’t wait for Prisms story, oh man I am seriously patiently waiting to see how his plays out!!

The audio was really good and i thought the narrators did a good job with the story.

Really liked the story

I have read/listened to many in this series and it is always great to see the old characters and get the stories of the other characters in the group. This was have some twist and turns but still full of sass, spicy and awesome side characters. I have loved each one. It is a standalone but having listened to the majority in the series, you can't go wrong starting at the beginning and binge them all. Narration was spot on as always!

LOVE THIS CREW!

I absolutely love these bros and their partners. They love so hard and so fierce and I just can't get enough. Kruger was adorably corny and overprotective, just as I suspected he would be and Jess was incredible too. She was so strong, even while facing so much.

The suspense and action was awesome in this story. I was so drawn in and felt my anxiety rise during a few points in the story as Jess faced some terrible situations. I think Whoa wins in this department for the series.

I can't wait for the next story. I adore Prism and can't wait to see him get his happily ever after 🥹

The audio was great. The production was well done and Celia Stone was wonderful. Michael Norman Johnson wasn't my favorite pick for Kruger, but I still very much enjoyed this listen.

Thank you Pink Flamingo for the advanced copy!!

Cambria Hebert does it again and pens another winning novel, a sports romance featuring a member of the Westbrook Elite college swimming team. It has been a while since my last visit to this amazing world Hebert created and she does not disappoint, because there is never a dull moment in their world. This is the sixth book in the series, written to stand on its own, though characters from earlier books appear and seeing them again is like seeing an old friend. That said, everything you need to know is in the descriptive details, so you do not feel you are missing anything, not having read or listened to the earlier books. This book is Ben (Kruger) and Jess’ story, a story that captivated my attention and tugged at my heartstrings the entire time. Ben and Jess have been friends since middle school, despite his family not wanting him to spend with her because she was not high society enough for them. Jess was a scholarship kid then and not in Westbrook, because of her musical talent on the piano. Ben never cared about that or what his parent thought or their attitude. Jess was in trouble because she saw something she wasn’t supposed to and the person went after her. She ran and called Ben, but he did not get to her in time, finding her unconscious with a head injury. Getting her to the hospital, they wouldn’t give him any information or let him see her because he was not family. Then he blurted out that they were engaged and they let him in to her, except she had amnesia and did not remember the recent past years. She did not remember getting engaged either, but it made sense to her and Ben was told to not upset her, so he withheld the truth, that they were not really engaged. She also did not remember what happened to her or who was chasing her. Ben would not let anything happen to her and his teammates/friends have his back on that. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with a perfect blend of drama, humor via witty dialogue, angst, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. It was great seeing the crew again, love the camaraderie amongst them, also loved Ben’s touch-her-and-die antics and how he dealt with his parents, kudos to him. Cambria Hebert, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Michael Norman Johnson and Celia Stone did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting and Ioved how they owned their roles, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Their portrayal of the two leads was exceptional, grasping every aspect of their personality, with Johnson nailing it as Ben, and Stone as Jess. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary/side characters, too. These two made a great made a great team, with voices and talent that complemented each other and a performance that is entertaining and keeps you riveted to the story.

Whoa is book 6 in the Westbrook Elite series and follows Kruger and Jess as they fight against an unknown threat.

This story has been years in the making. Jess and Benjie, aka Kruger, have known each other for years. But an overheard conversation put the brakes on anything that could have happened back then.

Ben comes from an affluent family. Watching his father has taught him how to invest, while also teaching him the type of person he does not want to be. He has worked hard over the last few years to set himself up to be able to claim the one woman he loves, without any need for parental approval.

Jess is from the wrong side of the tracks. She works hard and studies harder in order to maintain her scholarships to Westbrook. She has been in love with Ben for years, but knows she can never have him. His parents would never approve of her, so she has friend-zoned him.

After giving a piano lesson, Jess is on her way to her car when she realizes she dropped her keys when her bag tipped over. She heads back to retrieve her keys, when she witnesses something she never should have seen. Now she is on the run and calling Ben.

When Ben and Prism finally find Jess, she is unconscious and bleeding. Ben is freaking out because they will not let him back to see her or tell him anything. So, in his infinite wisdom, he tells them she is his fiance and Matty, aka Prism, is her brother. Lucky for him, she has retrograde amnesia.

Sadly, the amnesia does not stop the threat to Jess. She is very lucky that Ben and Prism are always looking out for her. And after one attack, the rest of Elite rally behind her and Kruger.

When the culprit is unmasked, you will see Jess fight for her life. Then Elite will prove what a family they are.

I love reading this series. Each book is different, but each has their own suspense or whodunit. I love trying to figure out who the culprit is and why. Then throw in the trauma lattes. You just have to love this crew of misfits.

Jess started this story as the woe is me victim, but had a strong, fighting for life ending. Throw in the feeling of not being good enough at the beginning to the feeling of being the right one for Ben. And Matty playing her brother is the best. He is just like a brother to her and he is able to tell her things that no one on Elite knows except Ben.

Ben has a plan. He is having to expedite it a little, but it does not matter. It is his plan and he is sticking to it. Even if that means lying. His confrontation with his parents made me stand up and shout. He has been the golden boy while silently taking matters in to his own hands. And the time has finally come to put his foot down. Way to go Ben!!!

I enjoyed listening to Michael Norman Johnson again. This is only my second book by him, but his strength and character that he brings to the character of Ben is fantastic. Celia Stone is new to me, but I enjoyed how she started Jess off as a meely little mouse afraid to do anything wrong and then grows her in to a strong, resilient survivor.

Will she remember everything?

I have loved this series from the beginning. It's the first series I've read/listened to written by Cambria Hebert. I couldn't wait to listen to this and I was not disappointed. I love seeing characters book to book. This set of friends warm my heart. But my heart raced too! I found myself holding my breath in anticipation of how many of the scenes would play out. I teared up and smiled BIG. I bit my nails and laughed out loud. I didn't want to pause the audiobook. A great listen!

The narrators were excellent! They brought this audiobook to life with emotional performances that had it rolling like a movie in my head. Perfection!

This one opens with a BANG! It keeps up the intensity off and on during the story. I was not a huge fan of Kruger’s over the too behavior in the beginning. It just seemed too much. Later in the story it made some sense. I liked the story and seeing this crew again. The nicknames for the girls is cute! The suspense is big in the beginning then tapers off in the middle but ramps back up for the end. Prism is next and what we have already learned makes me intruiged. Narration is done by Celia Stone and Michael Norman Johnson. They both are relatively new to me and did an amazing job. I would listen to them again.

Good all around story
