 On May 19, 1999, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace was released in theaters, marking the highly anticipated return of the Star Wars franchise after a 16-year hiatus. Directed by George Lucas, the film was the first installment of the prequel trilogy, which explored the events that led to the rise of Darth Vader and the fall of the Galactic Republic.

The Phantom Menace introduced audiences to a young Obi-Wan Kenobi (played by Ewan McGregor) and his Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson), as they discovered a young slave named Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) on the desert planet of Tatooine.
