The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a radio drama series which aired in the USA from 1939 to 1950,[1] it ran for 374 episodes, with many of the later episodes considered lost media.[2] The series was based on the Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. Some of the surviving episode recordings may be found online, in various audio quality condition.

For most of the show's run, the program starred Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson. Other actors played Holmes and Watson in later seasons.- namely John Stanley and ian Martin, with scripts by Eith Meider

This story, from Doyle's collection called 'Tales of Terror & Mystery', tells a tale of a young man who hires on as a tutor for the owner of a large old manor/castle, and soon finds there are some very mysterious happenings occurring there....

A young doctor is called to the manor house of his wealthy uncle, who is aging fast, for a meet and greet which he hopes will earn him a share of whatever inheritance is going to decided upon. Instead, his uncle, seeing that this young man has an understanding of paranormal occurrences, shares a story of a haunting that has been going on nightly for years and asks for help.
