Factory Family existed as a ministry to our children and their families from 2006-2015. It was a creative effort to get parents invested in the spiritual lives of their kids. For a decade, this ministry brought joy, creativity, fun, catchy songs, depth, and a multi-generational setting to equip families to pursue God together. In 2028, Sycamore View Church will turn 50 years old, and we want to do this right. We want to use the next few years as a season of reflection and preparation: reflection concerning all God has done through this church and preparation for God’s future here. So we’re launching what we’re calling “50 for 50.”Telling fifty stories.Over fifty months.Celebrating fifty years. At the beginning of every month until the spring of 2028, we will release a new story celebrating events, ministries, people, and risks, all in attempt to honor ways God has shaped and formed this church.Sycamore View is a community church based in Memphis, Tennessee. Lee Brown is a special part of Sycamore View history. Lee was on and off the streets of Memphis for over twenty years. But for those of us who knew Lee, he was more than “that homeless guy.” He was our friend. In 2018, Lee passed away, but the things he taught us hold true. We were Lee’s family. He was ours. And here at Sycamore View, we get to be a part of a story God is still writing, and we're glad Lee Brown was a part of it.In 2028, Sycamore View Church will turn 50 years old, and we want to do this right. In this 50 for 50, Patrick Parson shares about the connection between Sycamore View Church and Memphis nonprofit HopeWorks. HopeWorks, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that seeks to serve the poor through outreach programs that develop individual worth, encourage personal responsibility and promote the honor and value of work. By implementing a holistic approach through daily classes and meals, educational training and spiritual counseling, HopeWorks strives to break the cycle of poverty, addiction and chronic unemployment in the city of Memphis. Our church helps this incredible ministry by providing financial resources, food, and volunteering.
