It's that time of year again—the 8th Annual Emancipation Art Exhibition is coming this summer, and we want YOU to be part of this incredible showcase! Presented by the Halton Black History Awareness Society (HBHAS) in collaboration with the Helson Gallery, this juried exhibition is a space where African diasporic artists can share their visions, perspectives, and creativity with the world.

Why should you submit your work? Because your art matters. Your perspective matters. Your unique interpretation of Black identity, history, and culture deserves to be seen, appreciated, and celebrated. This is more than just an exhibition—it’s a collective expression of resilience, strength, and freedom.

Here’s what you need to know:

🖼️ Exhibition Dates: July 16 – August 31, 2025

🎉 Kick-Off Reception & Awards: Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 3 PM

📍 Location: Helson Gallery, Halton Hills (9 Church Street)

⏳ Submission Deadline: May 30, 2025, at 12 PM

We welcome two- and three-dimensional works across all mediums—painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and more. A jury from HBHAS will select pieces that best reflect the Black experience, and awards will be presented at the opening reception. Plus, all participating artists will receive an honorarium for their contributions!
