Resumen del Editor

Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

  • Getting your ear pierced to Jesus S29e38 Dt15:7
    Jun 30 2025

When a "bondservant" is referred to in the Bible, it means a voluntary, ongoing, permanent, mutually agreed upon, mutually beneficial, employer/employee relationship. It is an important concept to get right, because Jesus asks every one of His followers to become a bondservant to Himself.

Us bondservants are to voluntarily enter into an ongoing, permanent, mutually agreed upon, mutually beneficial Master (Jesus)/servant (us) relationship with the Lord Jesus. It involves, at least in the Old Testament picture, an awl, a door, and a willing ear. Listen today with your ear. Then get out your spiritual awl.

  • Hey! You release HIM because I released YOU. S29e37 Dt15:1
    Jun 29 2025

If God was only just, you, me, and the people of God would only be in big trouble. The Israelites are just past a little event known as the golden calf, where most of the golden rules were trampled on. Yet, because "the Lord's release has been proclaimed", it means that you're not getting what you deserve.

Then practically He asks for a heart toward the poor that is similar to the Lord’s heart toward them. He asks for a HAND toward the poor brother among you that is similar to the Lords HAND toward them. He wants to see amongst the people of God the very character of God: in this case financial mercy. First let's ask selfishly: If you knew that YOU were benefitting from YOUR giving, would you give more?

Here's the Crazy thing that makes this worth 7 minutes of your time: the generous GIVER is also the generous RECEIVER.

You give it to the Lord who gives it back to you.

Hmmmm. If the main profit is accrued to ME... Maybe I should give more.
