  • Bringing Your People Skills Into Your Business with Doula Darcy
    May 20 2025

On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I’m joined by The Doula Darcy, a business coach who specializes in supporting both doulas and sleep consultants.
This conversation is all about PEOPLE SKILLS, something that often gets overlooked when we talk about building a business.

In such a human-centered profession—where trust, empathy, and communication are at the core—how you connect with others can make or break your business. Whether you're talking to a tired parent, handling a tough conversation, or simply showing up online, the way you engage with people really matters.

Darcy shares incredible insight into how bringing your full self into your business—your warmth, your emotional intelligence, your ability to truly listen—can help you grow in a way that feels authentic and aligned.

If you’ve ever felt unsure about how to “sell” your services, or you’re wondering what makes someone stand out in this space, this episode is for you.

  • The Power of Consistency in Business with Jayne Havens
    May 6 2025

In this week’s episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I’m recording from my car—proof that sometimes the best time to record is when inspiration strikes.

As I was driving to my weekly tennis lesson, I realized I didn’t have an episode planned for next week, and yet skipping it wasn’t an option. I’ve committed to showing up on this podcast every single Tuesday because consistency is something I deeply value—not just in podcasting, but in business and in life.

This episode is a reminder that:
    - You don’t need ideal circumstances to make progress
    - Consistency is what separates those who struggle from those who thrive
    - Confidence comes through practice—not perfection
    - Building a business means deciding to show up, even when it’s inconvenient

Whether you’re already a sleep consultant or considering becoming one, this episode will encourage you to think about how you’re showing up in your own business—and what might change if you fully committed.

  • Protecting Your Own Mental Health as a Sleep Consultant with Elizabeth Baron (ENCORE)
    Apr 22 2025

Elizabeth Baron is a NY State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and psychotherapist with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University’s Teachers College. Her primary clinical focus is maternal mental health – from preconception and pregnancy, through postpartum and parenting. Previously, she worked as a therapist at The Motherhood Center (TMC) of New York, where she developed her expertise in treating Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. While at The Motherhood Center, she also served as the Community Partnerships lead and worked to educate new and expecting mothers and clinical providers on the importance of maternal mental health. Today she provides individual therapy in her private practice, moderates several support groups, and offers webinars and educational talks to several different brands across the parenting space. Deeply committed to destigmatizing maternal mental health issues, she is passionate about helping women through all stages of motherhood.

On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant Podcast Elizabeth and I discussed:
    - How we as sleep consultants can work to release some of the emotional load that we carry on behalf of our clients
    - That humanizing the experience of sleep and mothering in a more realistic frame for life leads to a more positive and successful experience for both parents and sleep consultants
    - The need for boundaries in our businesses. And that it’s ok to give ourselves grace if it feels difficult to set those boundaries in the very beginning. It takes time!

On today’s episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I’m joined by Valerie—a respiratory therapist, mom of two, and now a thriving pediatric sleep consultant. Valerie opens up about what it was really like during her first year in business: the fears, the milestones, and the mindset shifts that helped her go from just starting out to confidently supporting families each month.

We talk about what gave her the push to get certified, how she balances her consulting work with motherhood and her hospital shifts, and the exact moment she realized that this side hustle could actually become something bigger.

Valerie shares so many honest reflections, plus her goals for year two and a couple of sweet client stories that you won’t want to miss.

  • The Entrepreneurial Journey Through the Eyes of a Spouse with Jonathan Havens (ENCORE)
    Apr 8 2025

Building a business isn’t just a solo journey—it impacts the entire family. Almost three years ago, my husband Jonathan joined me on the podcast to share his perspective on what it’s really like to be married to an entrepreneur. He opened up about when he realized my business was more than just a side hustle, how our family dynamics shifted as I built my certification program, and the lessons he’s taken into his own career.

Whether you’re an entrepreneur yourself or the partner of one, this episode is a great reminder of the power of support, patience, and teamwork in navigating business and family dynamics.

  • Coaching Clients to Follow Through
    Apr 1 2025

One of the biggest fears new sleep consultants have is: What if I work with a family and they don’t follow through?

Maybe they seem excited at first but hesitate when it’s time to make changes. Sometimes one parent is all-in while the other is resistant. Or perhaps they’re overwhelmed and unsure if they can commit to the process.

In this episode of Becoming a Sleep Consultant, I’m breaking down exactly how to handle clients who stall in the process—and why this doesn’t have to be a dealbreaker in your business. We’ll cover:
    - How to meet families where they are and coach them through resistance
    - Why getting both parents on the same page is key to success
    - What to do when a family needs to pause (without losing momentum!)
    - How celebrating tiny wins keeps parents engaged

If you’re thinking about becoming a sleep consultant but worry about handling tricky client situations, this episode will give you the confidence to navigate these cases like a pro!
