The film is set in 1930s Harlem, New York where a black owned gambling house must deal with strong competition, gangsters, and corrupt cops in order to stay in business. The film was written and directed by Eddie Murphy starring Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Redd Fox, Delle Reese, Jasmine Guy and many other black hollywood legends.
