Crush Hour: A Musical follows the stories of unknowingly connected strangers in London as they navigate love during rush hour. Various chance encounters on tubes, taxis, trains and bikes result in hilarious outcomes in this festive musical drama

Grammy-nominated and two-time Brit award-winning singer Ellie Goulding plays Ash, who every day takes the same morning train as her dream man, Rob (Douglas Booth). Lola (West End star Samantha Barks) finds herself on the night Tube desperately trying to place the man in front of her (Aneurin Barnard) but she knows the cardinal rule of not speaking to people on the Tube. A hapless Jay (Layton Williams) is lost somewhere between Kings Cross and Bloomsbury, and finds himself taking an Uber with a tipsy Jonny (Omari Douglas) who does little to calm his nerves. And Martin (Rory Kinnear) and Debbie (Julia Davies), try to gather an audience to watch their vow renewal ceremony on Christmas Eve in Kings Cross station. Soon, it becomes clear that the characters are all entwined in one way or another, just in time for Christmas Day.

The Crush Hour original soundtrack with the full cast ensemble also includes Nick Collier, aka Ella Vaday (RuPaul’s Drag Race UK), Paul Kaye (Game of Thrones), Keill Smith-Bynoe (Ghosts) and Ben Bailey-Smith (The Split).

Crush Hour was created and written by Freya Slipper, directed by Chris Foggin (Fisherman’s Friends, Traces), composed by Chris Read with an original score performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. The series features episodes written by Doug Crossley, Spring Day and Leila Navabi. Crush Hour was produced by Marc Robinson, Mark Hopkins and Claire Rhodes, and developed in association with Twenty Thirteen Films.

Now available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

Ash’s dream guy gets on her train every day and she’s obsessed. Everyone in her office knows about ‘Train Guy’. So, when her work bestie, Fran, sees someone referencing the ‘girl with the green coat’ in the newspaper’s ‘Crush Hour’ feature, she’s pretty sure that Train Guy feels the same about Ash. But there’s a lot of ‘train guys’ and a lot of girls in green coats in London.

This is my first time listening to anything audible. I absolutely love this series.
I love the way this story is presented in a musical like format.

. . . or headphones, just not your device on speaker. I tried, and the layered sounds stacked upon each other and I couldn’t separate the dialogue. But using headphones or the car speakers, you can enjoy the experience of lovely beginnings with a flavor of London.

Fun & romantic with catchy tunes - but listen through speakers

Such a surprise to find an actual musical on Audible. I just finished a long and weighty read- 56 hours rife with philosophy! So, when I saw this, I thought it would be a simple entertainment of relief. But it was so much more: great performances, engaging, fun storyline and really fantastic songs! I can imagine that this might be one to listen to more than once. It's a real pick-me-up!

Super heart-warming stories and I loved how they were all connected. Def a little cheesy but I’m a sucker for love stories

STRONGLY recommend for an unique experience with solid storylines and diverse beautiful singing and speaking voices. Be aware there are 6 separate mini-episodes which can be listened to individually. Music was upbeat and banter was clever. It was easy to discern each character. While I don't feel qualified to speak on music production, I found the individual songs to be varied in lyrics and rhythm. The vocal ranges were used although the tempo was, maybe, predictable. It was apparent a great deal of talent went into writing the music and the performances were of highest quality in both voice and music production. My fav was Ep 2. The narrator, or was it the train conductor, was also terrific. There were no weak performances in this series althou, as I reviewed in Ep 6, at least one voice overpowered their partner's at the start of a duo in that episode. Made me wonder if they were recorded separately. I can't fathom how much effort went into this production!

Im not sure why this series has not been reviewed more! Audible needs to promote this series better. My only complaint was that the authors felt the need to incorporate all the "hot topics" of the day with disabled and same sex relationships represented in 50% of the episodes. I suppose the next chapter (if written) will be trans. The speaking British accent was a bit heavy at times for this American to understand at times.

RomCon in a Musical!! Fun easy listen.

The whole case was amazing from sings to narration. The songs themselves were lovely. The overall story was intriguing, it kept me in gauged throughout the entire story❤️❤️❤️

Wonderful musical

It is an unfamiliar setting, as I am AMerican and haven't traveled to the UK yet, but it was certainly familiar enough to follow. I liked some of the music - only the Taxi song I remember. It uses comedy, I really appreciate the diversity of the characters, in particular the woman with cerebral palsy- these are the voices that don't often show up on stages. It's a good use to explore this as a future format, and the foley artists are very well done, so it's easy to imagine the scenes, the traveling scenario. I think it works well.

I really enjoyed the diversity of the characters
