It's a book that someone I worked with for a brief period about 8 years ago gave me when I was pregnant with my oldest and it has been such a blessing to our family. Thanks, Shelley!

You Are Special by Max Lucado tells the story of the Wemmicks - a village of wooden people who go around giving each other dots or stars based on performance or looks. Punchinello is in distress because of all his gray dots when he notices a Wemmick who doesn't have any stickers. She tells him it's because she visits the woodcarver every day. So Punchinello finds the woodcarver who explains that he is special to him simply because he made him.

I cried reading this to the kids tonight - I needed the reminder to spend time with the Woodcarver, my Creator. No matter my emotions, what people say or think of me, no matter my circumstances, I am cherished by the One who created me. Maybe you need this reminder too.
