Entertaining and informative

Who says history isn’t fun? A performer from the rock group the Police tells about his father Miles Copeland who worked for the CIA at a very interesting time in US history. The rotating cast of the actual people involved along with actors and full sound effects made this entertaining. I only wish they had played more of the rock music by the Police, but Stewart Copeland Is evidently modest about his own achievements. While I heartily recommend this audiobook for home listening, it might not be the best for listening while driving any distance, as you have to begin a new episode after each less than 30 minute segment. In general it’s a fun audiobook!

What a great surprise....

I found the story of Miles Copeland fantastic when told through the eyes of Stewart, Lennie and Miles. It was told with reverence, honesty, and integrity not only to his Dad but to the world in which he operated. Stew needs to tell more stories - his voice and delivery are tailored to this format. Absolutely loved it wish there were more to hear.

Fascinating!

An absolutely fascinating series! Thank you Stewart and family and Audible for bringing us a personal view of what it was like to have a family member inside the C.I.A. from pretty much day one. Give it a listen. Great stuff!

Good series until the end

I enjoyed listening to this series until the final one, the 9th. Up until that point it was entertaining, interesting and at times captivating. I learned some interesting things. Unfortunately the 9th seemed to be from a different series. It took a significantly more serious turn. I felt the historians negative statements were not necessary. The politics seemed intense. I actually stopped listening because I didn’t want to “ruin” my enjoyment of it until that point.
It took me a bit of time to get adjusted to hearing music, eating (chewing lol) etc in the beginning. But the story telling was good and I’m glad I continued. (Even the music in 9 changed significantly- darker)

Fascinating Listen

Stewart and Lennie created the feeling of being there as they grew up. Their father’s story told in an entertaining way yet you can hear some of the emotions the two of them have had to work through after learning of his secret.

Note to Audible: I agree with the other review, it would be great if the episodes played automatically.

Great family story!

I really enjoyed this series. I grew up with the Police and their dulcet tones in the 80’s. Stewart, Lenny and Miles Jr were excellent storytellers and I longed for more after the finale. the spy, Miles Sr, was clearly the crux of the matter and the Middle East in the 50’s made for an excellent backdrop for their stories. I went to buy their Fathers book online but it was prohibitively expensive on Amazon!! I’m sure, Miles would get a kick out of that fact... Anyways, thanks for a great story and thanks for sharing a small part of yourselves with us.

Brilliant,, Deeply Thoughtful

I'm a spy kid of exactly Stuart's age, though my family was in Asia. His ability to interweave his own experiences, growing up internationally, with family life, his father's work and the larger geopolitical realities over time is stunning.

Captivating family story

Although the book is about Miles Copeland it provides great insights about the family life of a successful spy. I enjoyed Stewart’s easy narration style and the great lengths he went through in order to bring a balanced perspective to his father’s work and legacy.
It’s an easy listen which kept me interested and entertained till the end.

funny, insightful, and (mostly) true

Stewart Copeland has always been my favorite police man and now hes one of my favorite audible offers. I love spy stories, I love true stories, and I like stories about childhood. Boy was this a unique childhood. I appreciated all the different angles Stewart looks at his father's life as a CIA spy and the honesty and loyalty with which he tells the story

Absolutely the best listen!

An interesting story made even more interesting by the presentation. Loved hearing the perspectives of the spy's children as well as hearing from the experts. The music made it an even more enjoyable listen.
