Resumen del Editor
As FBI Profilers, they used victimology, the study of the victim, because an offender’s choice of victim unwittingly reveals information about that offender. They identified patterns in offender behavior to zero-in on suspects. And they used indirect personality assessments to figure out a killer’s motivations and, at times, to get them to interact with law enforcement, which could ultimately lead to their identification and capture.
In an ordinary police department, officers might only come across the worst types of cases once or twice in their careers. So when terrible crimes happen, they might not have the experience to crack the case. That’s where the BAU comes in. Jim and Kathy worked on everything from cold cases to active serial killer investigations, marshalling all their expertise to capture violent offenders and to prevent future crimes.
In this series, Kathy and Jim revisit the cases that haunted them most over the course of their FBI careers. They bring you along every step of the way in their investigations, to reveal what they learned about some of the most infamous crimes in history and demonstrate the profiling that helped to find the offenders…and bring justice to the victims.
This series contains mature themes and is not appropriate for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised.

Very good
Entertaining and informative. Good historical coverage of horrible intriguing events. Scary at how random some of the victim choices were.

Profiling is fascinating
Jims profile of the killer(s) and knowing how they act and what they would do based on the crime is facilitating.

Good listenable series
This series gets right to the point, offers a wide variety of crimes, and the episodes don't drag out too long. It's been a good listen. It has taught me a few things about victims, perpetrators, and about the FBI. One interesting thing I had never considered is that suicidal people are actually dangers not only to themselves but to others because their feelings of worthlessness about themselves does extend to other humans. Some of the recordings of the actual perpetrators were hard to hear, but they were a nice addition to hear the actual words and tone of voice of the people who committed these crimes.
One thing I disliked about this series was what I learned about the FBI profilers. I guess I had them up on more of an educational pedestal than they deserve. The male narrator calls two of the perps "losers" at some point (and calls others names as well) and that seems very unprofessional in that these FBI people are supposed to be sort of "scientists" who know about the brain and mental states of people who commit violent crimes. To just label them "losers" doesn't demonstrate any knowledge of the plethora of things that happen in people's lives to create the types of people who would commit such crimes, and that is disappointing. Also noteworthy is that the same narrator mentions that one of the perp's fathers was a "very strict disciplinarian" but that it was nothing out of the ordinary - meaning that the FBI professional thinks that parents who are overly controlling and regularly hit their kids rather than teaching their children to use reasoning skills - are not messing their kids up at all. Science of the brain and child development is a lot further ahead than this FBI professional. I really expected more from the FBI. I have hope for the upcoming younger generations of professionals to understand the brain better. But the podcast helped me pass some time and was interesting to listen to.

Interesting and informative
I like that this is written and narrated by the profilers themselves. Clear descriptions and good pacing. Hoping for more content like this.
