 Good morning, anglers! This is Artificial Lure coming at you with today's Lake Guntersville fishing report for May 23rd, 2025.

Folks, let me tell you - we're smack in the middle of that transition period I've been talking about. Those cooler temps from earlier this month have finally given way to that Alabama heat we all know is coming. Water temps are climbing steadily after that rainfall we had, and the bass are responding exactly how we predicted.

The ledge bite has officially turned on! Those bass that were scattered a couple weeks ago have grouped up nicely on main lake structure. Electronics are your best friend right now - if you ain't looking down, you ain't finding the mother lodes. Most productive spots are sitting in that 15-22 foot range on channel swings.

Big news this week is the football jig pattern that's absolutely crushing it. That forecast I made about "jig season incoming" has materialized faster than expected. Texas-rigged 10" worms in plum and blue fleck are also getting attention, especially during midday hours. Early morning topwater is still producing around grass edges before the sun gets high.

Tournament anglers have been hammering solid 4-5 pound largemouth consistently, with several 6+ pound kickers reported during last weekend's events. The surprising story continues to be smallmouth - some guides reporting all-smallie bags approaching 20 pounds!

Crappie fishing remains surprisingly good despite the seasonal shift. Minnows under slip bobbers around bridge pilings are filling livewells for those targeting slabs.

For those looking for hot spots, the main river ledges between Goose Pond and South Sauty Creek are holding schools of post-spawners. The causeway has been particularly productive during current generation. Brown's Creek humps are also loading up with bass that have fully transitioned to summer patterns.

With sunrise at 5:37 AM and sunset not until 7:46 PM, we've got plenty of daylight to work with. Best bite windows have been early morning until about 9, then picking back up from 5 PM until dark.

Weather-wise, we're looking at steady conditions with highs around 86 today, light southerly winds at 5-8 mph - perfect for positioning on those offshore structures without fighting your trolling motor all day.

Remember folks, with Memorial Day weekend upon us, boat traffic is gonna ramp up considerably. Get your fishing in early before the pleasure boaters churn everything up.
