Esther Cox, lived with her married sister Olive Teed, Olive's husband Daniel and their two young children. Her siblings also lived with them, as did Daniel's brother John Teed. The family lived in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada and between 1878 and 1879, Esther experienced unexplained knockings, bangings and rustlings in the night. She began to suffer seizures, her body visibly swelled and she was feverish and chilled just before objects in the house took flight. This is her story. • Deadman's Pond
    May 26 2025
A small, historic pond believed to be bottomless and located on Signal Hill in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada is also the final resting place for executed criminals after they were removed from the Gibbet Hill. Captured pirates and other convicted criminals were hung from a gallows on top of the hill, and the bodies were then suspended as a warning to everyone in the city and those entering by ship. It is widely believed that is how Deadman's Pond got its name. It could also have gotten its unfortunate handle as a result of the numerous drownings that have occurred there. • The Gordon House
    May 19 2025
The Gordon House is the oldest built home in Amherstburg, Ont. Constructed in 1798, it's been used for many purposes. It was home to a general during the War of 1812. It's also been an infirmary and a trading post. And over 220 years the home has been the source of many spooky stories not just history. Have just finished episode one and thoroughly enjoyed not just the stories, but the narrarator. Very well told and with such an easy flow. I am quite sure that I am hooked on this series.

Love the narrator and the ghost stories from the different areas of our neighbors in Canada.

Wonderful ghostly podcast

I've only listened to the introduction of this podcast, as it's brand new and that is currently the only episode available, but already this is so much better than many other ghost story podcasts I've tried! The quality is very good, the host doesn't meander around in small talk, and the presentation doesn't resemble a sixth grade book report! I can't really judge the material yet, of course, which is the only reason I gave the content only four stars, but this far I have very high hopes for Haunted Canada! With sound effects and music, good recording quality, interesting subject matter, and an engaging broadcasting style, this promises to be a gem among ghost and true crime podcasts! I look forward to listening to more!

Introductory Episode is Promising!

I was eagerly anticipating this series, because I love ghost stories and these happened not too far from where I live. The storytelling is not too lively, though, and I found myself struggling to get through them. I would, possibly, tune in again for the subject matter, but I’m not sure how soon…

I like that the stories are true, and happened nearby.
