The Casket Girls of New Orleans (1700s)

Young women from France arrived with small wooden coffins allegedly holding their dowrie, —but the boxes were sealed tight and reportedly empty. Soon after, strange deaths and blood-drained bodies began appearing in the French Quarter. The origin of one of America's earliest vampire legends.

The Lead Box of Khamis Mushait (Saudi Arabia, 1990)

A sealed lead box was discovered during excavation in a Saudi Arabian town. Workers who attempted to open it reportedly became violently ill, and unidentified government agents quickly removed the artifact. It has never been publicly acknowledged or recovered.

The Holloway Vanishing (1977)

A family of four vanished during a birthday dinner in rural West Virginia, leaving behind a half-eaten cake, a locked house, and a Polaroid of them standing in a cave—smiling with wide eyes, surrounded by shadowy figures.
