"The Generous Frog and the Ungrateful Snake"
In this revealing African folktale, we meet a prosperous frog who has built an entire town and married thirty wives. When well-dressed strangers visit, the frog's wives point out that despite his wealth, he's never provided them with proper clothing—only rags for their hard work.
Determined to right this wrong, the frog embarks on a journey to Mboma to buy clothes, carrying baskets of peanuts to trade. On his way, he encounters a snake trapped beneath a fallen baobab tree. Despite his small stature, the kind-hearted frog uses his remarkable ability to swell himself up, lifting the massive tree and freeing the snake.
Instead of gratitude, the snake immediately seizes the frog, intending to devour him. When an antelope arrives to judge their dispute, fear of the snake leads to an unjust verdict. Fortunately, a clever fox intervenes, tricking the snake back under the tree and letting it fall, trapping the ungrateful creature once more.
Join us for this timeless tale about the importance of recognizing one's responsibilities, the dangers of ingratitude, and how quick thinking can overcome brute strength when justice is at stake.
