  • Transformational Tools and Transformational Stories
    Jun 27 2025

On this Freedom Friday, we wrapped up our weekly theme, “Transformational Tools,” with stories from our listeners. We asked our listeners about the tools, resources, people, or experiences that have transformed their lives. We also had Chris Baker join us as he shared his ‘Coming to Christ’ story and how God is using him with his Tattoo ministry, INK 180. Chris is the founder of INK 180, but before being called to that ministry, he was a youth leader. He worked to encourage kids to cover gang graffiti with artistic murals. He also won the 2022 FBI Director's Award for Community Service for his work in removing branding tattoos for Sex Trafficking Survivors. You can hear the highlights of today’s program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.

  • How To Use Transformational Tools for Spiritual Growth
    Jun 26 2025

Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly theme of “Transformational Tools” by discussing how Christ-centered resources and information can catalyze our spiritual growth with Jesus. Our spiritual lives can flourish when we understand and distinguish the three key buckets of spiritual priority in connection to the Trinity: Humility before God, Proximity to Jesus, and Liberty of the Holy Spirit. Karl explained the three buckets and referenced 1 Peter 5:6, John Chapter 14-16, and Romans 8 to support it. Loren La Luz also joined us to discuss the ministry he co-founded, Streetlights. This ministry is a group of Creative Communicators who are called to intentionally engage global urban culture with the Gospel of Jesus Christ by producing, translating, teaching, and proclaiming God’s Word. Loren works as the Executive Director for Streetlights, and he also travels alongside his team of musicianaries, as the drummer, sharing the Gospel through the art of live music. We then had Dr. Nick Gatzke join us to share about a trip to Ireland. This trip is intended to be a time of fellowship for Moody Radio listeners and will be guided by Dr. Gatzke. There is limited space for the trip. For more information, please visit the website. Dr. Gatzke is the Senior Pastor of Old North Church, and he also hosts the Moody Radio Program, “A Better Word.” You can hear the highlights of today’s program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.

  • Let’s Show Gospel Compassion
    Jun 25 2025

Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly “Transformational Tools” theme by discussing the importance of gospel compassion for the laborers of God’s kingdom. As followers of Christ, we know this walk isn’t easy, and when our brothers and sisters are down, we must encourage and minister to each other. We turned to Matthew Chapter 9, where we saw how Jesus ministered and showed compassion to the lame, blind, sick, and those who sought Him. We also had Dr. Jim Coakley join us to discuss the significance of repetition and word choice in scripture, and how it can convey the compassionate traits of the characters involved. Dr. Jim Coakley is a professor at Moody Bible Institute and a current elder at 180 Chicago. He is also a member of the Evangelical Theological Society. He has also authored several publications and books, including “14 Fresh Ways to Enjoy the Bible.” We then had Chris Martin join us to discuss expansion plans and resources for Moody Radio. Chris is the Director of Content for Moody Global Media and Editor of the Bible to Life website. He has also authored several books, including “The Real Cost of Social Media.” You can hear the highlights of today’s program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.
