    After Paul and his team had preached the gospel throughout the island of Crete, he left Titus to establish churches there. The inhabitants of Crete were notorious for their bad behaviour, especially their lying. ‘To live as a Cretan’ was synonymous with being a habitual liar. Paul quoted a well-known saying from one of their own people which said, ‘Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons’ (Titus 1:12). Is there any hope for people like this? Yes! Because the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Where sin abounds, grace abounds much more.

    Jesus chose 12 uneducated, common men to be his disciples. Not one of them was a scholar or rabbi . They were ordinary people, just like you and me. That’s how God has always worked, through the humble . They had their flaws, faults and failings. But they were His disciples. And He transformed them by His grace . They were each unique individuals with different backgrounds, personalities, etc. Then He sent them to lay the foundation of the Church and to take the gospel to the nations. As Jesus transformed and equipped them, so He is doing with us today.
