    Sebastião Salgado ist ein berühmter Fotograf aus Brasilien. 1994 kommt er nach Hause zurück.Sein Land in Minas Gerais ist jetzt trocken und leer. Fast alle Bäume sind weg.Sebastião ist traurig. Es gibt kaum noch Tiere oder Pflanzen.Seine Frau Lélia hat eine Idee. Sie möchte die Natur zurückbringen.Das Paar gründet Instituto Terra. Sie wollen den Wald wieder aufbauen.Mit Hilfe von vielen Menschen pflanzen sie 2,7 Millionen Bäume.Nach Jahren ist das Land wieder grün. Tiere, Pflanzen und Wasser kehren zurück.Heute hilft Instituto Terra vielen Menschen und schützt die Natur in Brasilien.Diese Geschichte zeigt uns, dass jeder etwas für die Umwelt tun kann, egal wie groß die Aufgabe ist.

    Sebastião Salgado is a famous photographer from Brazil. In 1994, he comes back home. His land in Minas Gerais is now dry and empty. Almost all the trees are gone. Sebastião is sad. There are hardly any animals or plants left. His wife Lélia has an idea. She wants to bring back nature. The couple starts Instituto Terra. They want to rebuild the forest. With help from many people, they plant 2.7 million trees. After years, the land is green again. Animals, plants, and water return. Today, Instituto Terra helps many people and protects nature in Brazil. This story shows us that everyone can do something for the environment, no matter how big the task is.

Beim Spielen mit dem Handy seiner Mutter sucht er nach Dum-Dum-Lutschern auf Amazon.Ohne es zu merken, hat er fast 70.000 Lutscher bestellt. Die Rechnung beträgt mehr als 4.000 Dollar.Am nächsten Morgen steht seine Mutter unerwartet vor riesigen Kartons an der Tür. Das Bankkonto ist leer – der Schreck ist groß.Sie ruft sofort bei Amazon an, aber die Süßigkeiten lassen sich nicht zurückschicken. Im Internet erzählt sie die Geschichte und postet Fotos.Bald kennt jeder die Geschichte, und Amazon erstattet das Geld. Die Familie behält die Lutscher und verschenkt sie an Schulen und Vereine.Um jemandem den Tag zu verschönern, braucht es kein großes Missgeschick: Schon eine kleine Geste kann heute Freude bringen.

    Liam is eight years old and lives in Kentucky. He wants to organize a party for his friends. For that, he needs prizes, preferably lollipops. While playing with his mother’s phone, he searches for Dum-Dum lollipops on Amazon. Without realizing it, he has ordered almost 70,000 lollipops. The bill comes to more than $4,000. The next morning, his mother is unexpectedly faced with huge boxes at the door. The bank account is empty—the shock is big. She immediately calls Amazon, but the sweets can't be returned. She tells the story online and posts photos. Soon, everyone knows the story, and Amazon refunds the money. The family keeps the lollipops and gives them away to schools and clubs. You don’t need a big mishap to make someone’s day: even a small gesture can bring joy today.

    Im ruhigen San Mateo in Kalifornien wundern sich die Nachbarn eines Tages über verschwundene Dinge und sind ratlos.Keiner denkt daran, dass der Schuldige ein Kater sein könnte, denn noch ist Dusty, der Snowshoe-Kater, ein scheinbar gewöhnlicher Haustiger.Alles beginnt im Jahr 2008, als Dusty plötzlich durch die Hundetür nach draußen schlüpft und abends etwas Unerwartetes passiert.Die ersten fremden Socken und Handtücher tauchen im Haus seiner Besitzer Jean Chu und Jim Coleman auf. Sogar das Bett bleibt nicht verschont.Bald entdeckt die Familie immer seltsamere Sachen – Unterwäsche, Schürzen, eine Schwimmhose und Bälle finden ihren Weg ins Wohnzimmer.Mit der Zeit sieht die Nachbarschaft auf Kameraaufnahmen, wie Dusty jede Nacht von Haus zu Haus geht und stolz seine Beute nach Hause bringt.Dusty wird bekannt. Er ist im Fernsehen zu sehen und sogar der Grand Marshal einer Haustier-Parade in seiner Stadt.Nach mehr als tausend gestohlenen Gegenständen bleibt Dusty für viele Menschen eine lustige Legende und er gilt seitdem als der größte Socken-Sammler von San Mateo.Zum Schluss noch ein witziger Lerntipp: Im Deutschen gibt es das Wort 'klauen' für stehlen, aber Katzen 'stibitzen' besonders gerne. Vielleicht probierst du es selbst mal in einem Satz aus.

    In peaceful San Mateo, California, one day neighbors are puzzled by missing things and have no idea what is happening. No one thinks that the culprit could be a cat, because at this point Dusty, the Snowshoe cat, still seems like an ordinary pet. Everything starts in 2008, when Dusty suddenly slips out of the doggy door and something unexpected happens in the evening. The first unfamiliar socks and dish towels appear in the home of his owners, Jean Chu and Jim Coleman. Even the bed does not stay untouched. Soon the family discovers even stranger things—underwear, aprons, a bathing suit and balls make their way into the living room. Over time, the neighborhood sees in video recordings how Dusty goes from house to house every night and proudly brings his loot home. Dusty becomes well-known. He is seen on TV and is even the Grand Marshal of a pet parade in his town. After stealing more than a thousand items, Dusty remains a fun legend for many people, and since then, he has been known as the greatest sock collector in San Mateo. A fun learning tip to finish: In German, there is the word 'klauen' for stealing, but cats especially like to 'stibitzen' (pilfer). Maybe you'll try using it in a sentence yourself.
