Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text!

    Length of article: 4.5 pages
Length of audio: 14 minutes 23 seconds
Synopsis: This is the audio version of the 4.5-page article I wrote and published on rabbischneeweiss.substack.com/ on 6/6/25, titled: Naso: Twelve Identical Offerings. Why does the Torah repeat the twelve identical offerings in Parashas Naso? This article explores a peshat answer, two midrashim, and their methodology.

Summer is almost here, and I’m planning to level up my Substack game. In addition to my weekly article on the parashah, I’ve got a ton of other topics I want to write about, many of which are experimental (or spicy) enough to keep behind the paywall. I’m looking for sponsors and I'm willing to offer an insane deal: for every WEEK of Torah content you sponsor, I’ll comp you a full YEAR of paid subscriber access to my Substack. This offer is good through the end of June or until all my summer content is sponsored, whichever comes first.

Alternatively, if you would like to make a direct contribution to the "Rabbi Schneeweiss Torah Content Fund," my Venmo is @Matt-Schneeweiss, and my Zelle and PayPal are mattschneeweiss at gmail. Even a small contribution goes a long way to covering the costs of my podcasts, and will provide me with the financial freedom to produce even more Torah content for you.

  • Q&A #44: Mishleic Fatalism, Life Decisions, Halakhic Man, Pirkei Avos, What Yeshiva Bochrim Miss
    Jun 5 2025

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text!

    Length: 47 minutes
Synopsis: This morning (6/5/25) we had what will likely be our last Q&A of the 2024-2025 season! We discussed the following five questions: (1) Have my views on Mishleic fatalism changed? (If you're not familiar, don't worry - we review it.) (2) What insight can I offer on the types of high-stakes life decisions that tend to start cropping up as one enters adulthood? (3) What advice would I give for reading Halakhic Man? (4) What are some guidelines for learning Pirkei Avos? (5) What mistakes do I see yeshiva bochrim during their time in yeshiva? (and what regrets do I have about how I used MY time in yeshiva?)

  • Lag ba’Omer PSA: The Falsehood of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai’s Yahrzeit
    May 16 2025

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text!

    Length of article: 1.5 pages
Length of audio: 5 minutes 55 seconds
Synopsis: This is the audio version of the 1.5-page article I wrote and published on rabbischneeweiss.substack.com/ on 5/15/25, titled: Lag ba’Omer PSA: The Falsehood of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai’s Yahrzeit. Mark Twain said, “Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.” Rumors of Rashbi’s death on Lag ba’Omer have been greatly exaggerated. They trace back to a misprint from 1802.

Note: This is a corrected and expanded version of this morning's WITATM post. I decided to issue it as a free article today because tomorrow, on Lag ba’Omer, I’m planning to post a paid subscriber article about the Zohar that’ll probably get me crucified, and I wanted to get this PSA out before I die.

  • Kedoshim: Ve'Ahavta l'Reiacha Kamocha Reexamined
    May 9 2025

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text!

    Length: 1 hour 13 minutes
Synopsis: This past Thursday night (5/8/25), in lieu of our usual Thursday night Pirkei Avos shiur for women, we took up a topic in Parashas Kedoshim - arguably the most important mitzvah mentioned therein. Many people are familiar with R' Akiva's famous statement, "This is a great principle in the Torah." Fewer people are familiar with Ben Azzai's disagreement, and his identification of ANOTHER pasuk as an even GREATER principle. We analyzed this machlokess through the eyes of a little-known commentator: N.H. Wesseley. Even if you don't agree with our conclusions, you'll enjoy thinking about the questions!

Note: After giving this shiur, I published a two-page article summarizing the entire analysis. You can find that article on my substack, titled: "Kedoshim: “Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself” – Not the Greatest Principle in Torah."
