  • SERIES: My Favorite Sahabiya: Lessons from the Life of Khadija (RA)
    May 22 2025

We kick off our Series: My Favorite Sahabiya based on audience feedback from our survey last summer. Watch out for double headers as I continue to catch up on production.

Dive right on in with an easy listen on Khadija bint Khuwaylid with some important life lessons on being a supportive spouse, as well as an exemplar of faith to our children and communities. May Allah SWT be pleased with her, forgive us our shortcomings, and make it easy for us to walk in her footsteps. Ameen.

Let us know if you learned something new after listening, which you can do on Saturdays on our Facebook group, or right on our website under "Podcast." Share this episode with a mom who doesn't estimate her work as she should, or "I'm just a mom's" herself frequently.

Tune in for more Sahabiya episodes providing us with Muslim mothering/nurturing models coming up.

  • Bridging Age Gaps Through Olive Community Services
    May 17 2025

STILL catching up on nonprofit features, and for those of you looking to burn through your donation allotment to zakat and sadaqa this year, may Allah SWT make your scales heavy in the Hereafter and your wallets fat in this world. It's completely on me that you didn't get this episode in time for the end of Ramadan, but don't let my shortcomings hamper your generosity towards those organizations providing invaluable services due to our parents' generations.

Zainab Hussaini is the fairy godmother of Olivers in #orangecounty, but she identifies as Program Manager @olivecommunityservices. She's on today to focus on the success and schedule of Olive in SoCal and I pick her brain to find out how we can bring some of that khair into our own communities.

Tune in now and share this episode with your imams, masjid social boards and golden population today. Ask for a khutbah on serving our best generations and put some money behind the initiatives. One day, we will ALL need them.

  • Mutual Aid For Palestinians & Sudanese in Egypt
    May 8 2025

🎙Just dropped a powerful episode with @jessicaelgamil who spent 6 months on the ground in Egypt, where she supported mutual aid efforts for Palestinians and Sudanese people. This was recorded months ago in an effort to put it in series, but I am so behind schedule now and couldn't wait longer for it to go out. I know I've been gone for upwards of 6 weeks, and you can find out why by tuning in. Prayers welcome for my mother's speedy recovery and cure! 📿

🎧Hear about the differences in status and why they matter in resource distribution, and the intentions and barriers displaced people face as a result. Find out what both exploitation and generosity look like in local Egypt, and how mutual aid networks can do their work by avoiding red tape 🔴and just GETTING IT DONE.

Jessica shares lessons from the frontlines and what it takes to make mutual aid sustainable and rooted in care, not charity. This convo is a must-listen for anyone trying to do more than repost.

Tune in at 6pm EST and share this episode with a friend who wants TO DO something to subvert genocide and displacement, and contact Jessica today!

  • Canceling Cancer in Afghanistan with Wellness Worldwide for Sustainable Communities
    Mar 20 2025

🌏Dr. Meena Said discusses the work of her nonprofit, Wellness Worldwide, this week. It provides international tertiary care coordination for terminally ill Afghan children, forgotten by the world along with their nation. "Coordinate" because these kids cannot be treated IN Afghanistan as there is no pediatric cancer center there. Find out why on this episode.

⚕️Not only does @wellnessworldwide_ serve dying children, but its field clinic serves a population of 35,000 internally displaced Afghans, mostly women and children, with primary care and surgical follow up, labs and medication. It is also a referral source for the terminally ill children they help coordinate care for.

❤️If you have zakat or sadaqa allocated to Gaza, as you should, please also consider the nonprofits, orgs, and people coming on the podcast this month on our series who work quietly in service of Allah's most ignored creation and causes. This Ramadan may be one of our tightest yet, but if it doesn't hurt to give, we haven't given enough. It's the least we can do as we sit in the comforts of the West that we still have.

🎧Tune in at 6pm to learn more and share this episode with someone who can help Meena meet her short and longterm goals for her kids, and to donate to Wellness Worldwide for Sustainable Communities.

  • SERIES: Organizations That Increase Khair: Addressing a Need with Elevate Adolescence Programs
    Mar 13 2025

Our Series this month is "Organizations That Increase Khair," and we kick it off with Sana Imad of Elevate Adolescence. She's written a curriculum for a character education program designed to help tweens and teens build confidence and reach maturity in a developmentally appropriate way, both spiritually and psychologically. Rooted in Islamic principles and the sage example of Imam Ghazali, the program integrates timeless values like integrity, compassion, and self-discipline into practical life skills.

Through @girlsrisingstrong and @boys.breakingthru, parents and children can achieve deep understanding and connection. One of my favorite pearls from this episode had to be, "It isn't easy, but it gets easiER." Practice makes perfect, y'all, but we have to be willing to take the first step.

Learn more about these programs and how you can bring them to your kitchen tables. Tune in at 6pm EST and share this episode with another mom and maybe with a masjid board member who may find it easier to establish a youth group with a curriculum and support systems ready to go.

📊 Who is consuming porn in our communities, and what does that mean for our relationships and faith?
⚠️ Who’s at risk? It’s not just who you think.
