  • How to BE the Church - Part 31: "Have Courage in the Chaos"
    Jun 22 2025
In the whirlwind of accusations, riots, and threats, Paul stands firm—not because the path is easy, but because God is present. Acts 23 reveals a powerful truth: even when opposition surrounds us and justice feels far off, God is still writing the story. In a dark prison cell, the risen Jesus appears and whispers what every weary soul needs: “Take courage.”

Join us as we explore how God’s sovereignty, power, and protection are at work even in our most chaotic moments—and how His presence gives us boldness to stay faithful when everything around us says “give up.”

  • How to BE the Church - Part 30: "Did God Rewrite Your Story?"
    Jun 15 2025
Paul is finally back in Jerusalem after many years, being taken to prison in chains because of an angry Jewish crowd, however, Paul wants to speak to them. He wants to have the opportunity to "testify" and tell His God Story of how Jesus has changed him. Will he be able to speak? How will the crowd respond? What does this mean for us?

This week's teaching is by Jennifer Jukema. Jennifer and her husband Duane have been serving in the C&MA for over 25 years. They currently attend NAC with their 4 sons. Over the years, where Duane was pastoring, Jennifer has served in Children, Youth & Music ministries, been an administrator, as well as led small groups.

  • How to BE the Church - Part 29: "Called Back, Braced for Impact"
    Jun 8 2025
Sometimes, homecomings can be bittersweet. Paul spent about five years travelling on his third missionary journey, and was eager to return to Jerusalem to support its struggling Christian church. But on his way back, he receives repeated warnings from prophets and his most trusted disciples. Should he continue? Should he change course?

As we’ve seen repeatedly in Paul’s travels, there are many lessons that are as applicable to our early church ancestors back in Acts as they are for us today:
    - How can we discern God’s will?
    - Why should we keep worshiping God, even when it seems pointless?
    - Should we shy away from controversy with our siblings in Christ?

Through his words and deeds, Paul has wisdom for us today as we wrestle with the tough questions we all face as Jesus-followers.

This week’s teaching is by Dirk Deroos. Dirk and his wife Sandra actually found NAC through their children, Eric and Anna, who joined ROCK Youth and had positive experiences there over many years. At their previous church, Dirk was a worship leader and regularly spoke to the congregation. Both Eric and Anna will be going to Western in the fall, but Dirk and Sandra won’t be empty nesters, as they have three cuddly cats at home to keep them company!
