  • E6: Mind-Blowing 101
    May 1 2025

In the previous episode, we discussed how a collection of moxie efforts can be tightly woven together into something a person can repeat at will. This is what we call talent.

As a person continues to further her talent, she will develop other talents that then weave together. As expertise in weaving talents together is gained, other people begin to notice the level of skill being exercised.

People begin to pay extra attention to witness an uncommon experience.Remember back in episode 4, we saw Tom van Steenbergen throw his bike over a cliff, jump immediately afterward, land on the pedals and ride away. That was a mind blowing uncommon experience many of us watched repeatedly just to comprehend what he did.

What is mind blowing kicks off a ripple effect that influences the trajectory of the world. Sometimes it’s small, like triggering a dawning of understanding in a child. Other times, it changes the trajectory for a few hundred million people, like what Malala Yousafzai has done for the women of Pakistan, the people of Pakistan, and countless others. She showed the world how actions speak louder than words.

In this episode, I'll map out the remaining details for how we blow minds.

  • E5: Cracking The Code Of Talent
    Apr 17 2025

Talent is a special thing. It’s often referred to as a natural aptitude or skill.

I disagree with this definition. Athletes at the Olympics are not naturals at what they do. They worked harder at developing their talent than others. They know how to persevere. Saying they have a natural aptitude or skill is just a way to drink the Kool-Aid.

There are two key ingredients for developing talent. The first is what I’ve already mentioned—perseverance. The second is being methodical.

When a person is methodical, perseverance, which begins as trial and error, becomes directed through a process or method that leads to our intended goal.

This topic is now going very technical. Please listen to the previous episode on moxie before you continue.

Remember the visual metaphor for the Descartes’ four precepts I gave you in the previous episode. This is what I said about it…

Each step, and the efforts within each step of Descartes’ Four Precepts, takes moxie. When you tightly weave various moxie efforts together into something you can repeat as a whole at will, this becomes a skillset—a talent.

The Descartes’ Four Precepts is a particular talent. It’s a talent for developing any talent.

Did your jaw just drop? If not, listen to that again and again until it does because it should.

When people say you can't teach talent, you now know they are misinformed and you have the recipe, process or methodology to prove it.

Let’s look at the finer details to learn how we liberate talent.
