Tom Brown was enjoying his senior year of high school, with plans of likely pursuing a broadcasting career. He and his friends were eagerly anticipating the Thanksgiving holiday and having time off to hang out, listen to music, and drive all over town. But the night took a drastic turn. After saying goodbye to his friends, Tom drove away to get home in time for curfew, however he was never seen again. His abandoned Durango was found the next morning in an area of town not many knew about, and it included a visible streak of blood. Fresh urine was just outside the driver's door. And most intriguing, a .25 caliber shell casing was found inside the truck. But what wasn't found, was Tom. The local sheriff's department took the lead, but it wasn't long until pushback from the citizens changed the course of the investigation. The personalities, egos, and theories of local deputies, private investigators, FBI, Texas Rangers, and the Attorney General's office, were all in a tussle to solve the mystery first. In the rural panhandle region of Texas, not much was going on the night before Thanksgiving in 2016. Tom Brown and his friends did what any kids would be doing their senior year of high school- burning down the roads.

Tom had recently broken up with his girlfriend and quit the football team, but he was enjoying time in his drama class and acting role as student body president.

The night in question began with Tom and his friends driving all over town, listening to music, and making plans for the future . But that was the last night Tom was ever seen alive .

So much is involved in this mystery, and not the least of which are the main investigators: The local sheriff, and his nemesis... the family-hired PI.

Very suspicious circumstances surround every bit of this case. But while a bullet casing was found, blood was present, and fresh urine went untested-the Texas Attorney General's office refute it all and maintain there is no evidence of foul play. In fact ,they call the investigation of Tom's death SUSPENDED. But refuse to say why.

In July of 2020, 18 year old Grant Solomon was found lifeless under his pickup truck. His father being the sole witness. Or was he? Either way, the police chief has yet to identify what he says were other witnesses. As in, not at all. The only thing we have is Grant's father's account of his death - that an independent forensic team has deemed impossible based on the orientation of Grant's body in relation to the truck and the parking lot. You may also want to look into employees at the school he attended with his sister, Gracie. The church their father attended, to include local politicians and small time celebrities. Remember that Tennessee, where the Solomon's lived, is a "mandatory reporting" state. By his sister Gracie's own admission, she visited more than one staff member during her time as a student to report the specific abuse she was suffering under her father's care. Yet not one of the employees reported her claims. There is so so much more to it all, to which I would encourage you to watch Season 2, Episodes 24-26, to fully understand the interwoven grief, manipulation, power grabs, elbow rubbing, and at the very least, inept investigations. Jodi Huisentruit was an accomplished golfer, social butterfly, and anchorwoman with KIMT studios in Iowa. She had aspirations that grew larger than the town of Mason City. She had a wide social circle, and was recognized most places she went. But in the summer of 1995, she may have been recognized by the wrong person.

Investigators follow up on a welfare check to find her shoes, earrings, and other belongings strewn near her beloved new car. Including drag marks and a bent key.

In a case cold for nearly three decades, the suspect list is potentially narrow. Yet once again this is a case that highlights the evil that lurks among us as we go about our days.
