  • #39 Sisterhood the Play; A gentle but fearless adventure into the dark heart of patriarchal rule.
    May 23 2025

TRIGGER WARNINGS: This week's episode is a recording of Sisterhood the play, which deals with themes of sexual abuse, infertility, suicide, and menopause.

I'm sharing this in memory of Sophia, who created the live soundscape for this production and toured with me around East Anglia on a healing tour to all the places where Matthew Hopkins tortured and executed witches.

Like Handmaid's Tale, but with more hope and gallows humour, Sisterhood is a gentle but fearless adventure into the dark heart of patriarchal rule. Three women, aged 20, 40 and 60 (But not a virgin, mother or hag in sight) stand on a precipice, the patriarchy watching over them – flaming torches aloft – threatening to hang them all. Sisterhood is a devised multimedia tale introducing you to a sisterhood caught between two timelines: the witch trials of the 16thC and modern-day women facing a world in political and environmental upheaval. Sisterhood transports the audience, in this live performance, to a church cell in Wilmington, where three women await their trial in the morning. Soothing and passionate storytelling interweaves the stories of these three women with vestiges from the performer’s own lives, to reveal an immediate and clear association.

GROUNDBREAKING WORK “One of the best play scripts I’ve seen at the Fringe… At its core Sisterhood is a superbly written, intelligent, and essential play, masterfully portrayed by its three actresses, exploring the role of male domination, misinformation, sexual abuse, and age discrimination through the lens of the past but contrasted with moments drawn from the modern day.” - Fringe Review

Sisterhood the Novel by Jolie Booth is available on Amazon.

  • #38 A Meadow of Delight; Filling the Cup of Grief With Rainbows and Sparkles
    May 16 2025

In this deeply personal episode, recorded in the wake of the Beltane fire, I share reflections on the recent passing of one of my dearest friends - Sophia - a soul woven into the fabric of my life. A Meadow of Delight is a gentle wander through memory, magic, and mourning, honouring the ripples she leaves behind and the light she still casts in my world.

Grief is often feared, tucked away or silenced. But here, we cradle it with reverence. I explore how grief and love are two sides of the same coin. How to fill the cup of sorrow with rainbows, with sparkles, with tenderness. This episode is a ritual, a remembering, and a reminder that the ache of loss is sacred. Join me in celebrating a life lived brightly, and in finding beauty within the breaking.

Listen, pause, breathe—there’s treasure in the tears.

  • #37 Praying to Trickster; Howard Gayton and the power of Mask (Pt2)
    May 9 2025

This week’s episode of Nonsense in the Chaos is the follow-up episode in a two-part offering, born from a rich, two-hour conversation with my dear friend and fellow fool, Howard Gayton. In this half we pull the cards and discuss the topics that the universe leads us to.

Howard and I connected properly during a 500-mile pilgrimage from London (or, as Howard rightly points out, Henley) to COP26 in Glasgow—though in truth, we stopped walking in Edinburgh.

Howard Gayton has worked for over thirty years as a theatre director, performer, and teacher specialising in Commedia dell'Arte and other forms of mask theatre, as well as puppetry, foolery and folk drama. His work is inspired by all manner of mythic tricksters, zanni figures and sacred clowns, as well as by the use of masks in drama and sacred rituals the world over.

In this deliciously layered chat, we explore the Trickster archetype through the lens of fooling, drawing on the historical threads of Commedia dell’Arte and the slapstick world of Punch and Judy. I could have talked to Howard forever—and very nearly did. I hope you enjoy our creative musings.

  • #36 Necessity is the Mother of Invention
    May 1 2025

This week I'm exploring what’s going on with the planets, as we thankfully draw to a close the last huge unprecedented shift of ‘once in a lifetime’ planetary signatures. There will be more to follow, but April was probably the craziest astrological month we'll ever know. Well done for surviving it.

And I explore the power of necessity. A theme I've been mulling over a lot recently and keeps coming up against. What's necessary right now in your life and what's fluff? Where is best to place your energies? Your time is precious. Make sure its spent in ways that are necessary for your well being and happiness.

  • #34 Schrodinger's Reality
    Apr 18 2025

In this week’s episode of Nonsense in the Chaos, I explore the idea that we each hold the power to shape our own reality. Using the metaphor of a single pixel in a vast image, I delve into how tending to your own light—your energy, your choices, your presence—can influence not only your personal world but the collective picture we’re all creating together. This episode invites you to reflect on how to make your pixel shine as brightly and vibrantly as possible, and how, in doing so, you open the door to manifesting any reality you can imagine.

  • #33 A Vocal Odyssey; Nessi Gomes and the Spirit of Your Voice
    Apr 11 2025

You’re in for a real treat this week with the utterly gorgeous Nessi Gomes. Born and bred in Guernsey, Nessi is of Portuguese descent and a stunning singer- songwriter. Channelling influences from both sides of her ethnicity, Nessi blends the essence of the traditional, emotional and 'larger than life' Fado folk music of Portugal with British contemporary inspiration. Nessi makes music from the heart and the guts. If you’ve never heard of her before then go have a listen to Nessi’s work before tuning in to today’s podcast. Then sit back and enjoy the wisdom and insights Nessi has to offer. Our chat was an absolute delight and I can’t wait to share this week’s Nonsense in the Chaos with you. Enjoy!

  • #32 Claiming Your Sovereignty
    Apr 4 2025

As Neptune enters Aries for the first time in 165 years, the sooner we sit back comfortably in our thrones of power and calmly and collectively claim our sovereignty, the better off we are going to be. Not to take our place as violent tyrants, but as self assured, content, higher versions of ourselves. Our biggest, brightest, bravest versions. This is freely available at any given moment and opens up the possibility of re-pairing with our twisted twins.

But claiming your sovereignty isn’t always easy. It asks us to question, to challenge, and to risk stepping outside of the narratives we’ve been handed. It’s a pilgrimage in itself—one that requires courage, clarity, and a willingness to be seen as you truly are.
