Family update We’ve been enjoying local ice cream shops, watching birds and squirrels on Kraig’s Bird Buddy bird feeder camera, and replacing our wooden deck with a concrete patio and a pergola.Kraig (22) graduated from high school on May 16. His graduation party will be in June. Derrick finished his first engineering co-op in May. He’s taking classes at The University of Cincinnati this summer.Nathan is still a Plant Manager at First Solar (Perrysburg, OH). He turns 50 in June.I’ve been driving my BMWC400X motor scooter. I went out to breakfast with my Mom for Mother's Day. I went to the Annual Meeting of the Ohio Pharmacists Association in Columbus, OH in April.I’m making YouTube videos using pictures/videos from my Europe trip last Spring.     Welcome to the 55th episode in my drug pronunciations series. In the episode, I divide oxcarbazepine and Trileptal into syllables, tell you which syllables to emphasize, and share my sources. We don’t cover pharmacology in this series. Just pronunciations. Today’s drug name was chosen from Davis’s Drug Guide for Nurses, Seventh Edition. Written pronunciations are helpful! They are below and in the show notes on https://www.thepharmacistsvoice.com/podcast. oxcarbazepine = OX-kar-BAZ-e-peen The first two syllables sound like “box-car.” (Drop the “B.”)Baz, like basketballe, which is a short “e” sound, like the “E” in the middle of the word ElephantPeen, like a ball peen hammerEmphasize OX and BAZ. She earned her PharmD from Creighton University in 2016 and has since had a broad pharmacy career spanning retail, hospital, consulting, and medical affairs. Combining clinical expertise with lived experience, Danielle specializes in supporting pregnant patients, particularly those suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). After studying treatments for other diseases of malnutrition in pharmacy school, she became certified in pharmacogenetics and as an antepartum doula. This, along with a community of pharmacy entrepreneurs, inspired her to launch HG Pharmacist©, a blog to share information about HG, which later grew into Obstet-Rx©, a consulting company offering personalized medication management and patient advocacy to women worldwide. Her subject matter expertise has led to board member appointments, speaking engagements, and media contributions for international magazines. In her work as an MSL, she has supported diagnostics for preeclampsia (sFlt-1/PlGF) and procalcitonin, as well as therapies for iron deficiency anemia and small cell lung cancer. Through her podcast, Danielle shows how pharmacists play a key role in improving maternal outcomes. (End bio) Backstory Danielle and I met at Medipreneurs several years ago and have kept in touch. I enjoyed getting to know her better during this interview. She has transformed her career since we first met, and I’m proud of her for starting a podcast.
