  • Episode 2: We need Pride Month now more than ever.
    Jun 14 2023

    Happy pride month!

On this episode of Successfully Struggling, my "gusband" and I discuss what Pride Month means to us & how we transitioned from fear to confidence about who we are as individuals scrutinized by society for being gay. From coming out to family to being outed by a "friend," we discuss the trials of being our truest self.

This episode includes our experiences, perspectives & perceptions of the events we've experienced, as well as, the world that judges around us.

Pride Month was not created to shove gay rights in any ones face, but rather to have equal rights as human beings in an unfair world.

Whether you are gay or straight, it is important to respect others no matter how different their beliefs may be from yours.

  • Successfully Struggling: What is a Successful Struggler?
    May 3 2023

Successfully Struggling is a tenacious tribe of determined over-comers.

Here gathers knowledge, impact & setbacks endured in order to appreciate purpose in life.

Where the thinkers, dreamers, doers, fools, sensitive ones, over analyzers & risk takers find camaraderie through relatable personal experiences, perspective and perceptions.

Through stories and disgussion, we collectively & empathetically will elevate the alchemy of our individual existence.

The successful struggler strives to lean into the light, despite the ever-lingering darkness. Instead of drowning in “shoulda, coulda, woulda,” swims freely with ever evolving techniques, through questionable depths , but with enough grit, hustle & determination to survive.

Be inspired by diverse upbringings, expertise, developments, reassurance, and REALness. Successfully survive comforted by the uncomfortable, yet, encouraged by the resilient & effervescent.

    -

Maintaining a positive mentality, as choices play an unforeseen game of cause and affect with future opportunities, is not without strain.

Challenges continuously knock one on thy ass until they successfully accomplish difficult obstacles.

It is up to the individual to determine the pace at which one will absorb the education in the lesson.

What priority is retaining the knowledge being offered?

How open to being taught are you?

Being eager to learn is more important than the want.

Now comes the mental shift that has the potential to change your life. In the “ah-ha” moment that makes you understand the setbacks, lessons, blessings and find the true purpose in the chance you took to begin with.

    So THIS is why!?!

However, with more choices comes more rewarding opportunities, as well as, the opportunity for a rise in struggle.

The bigger the success, the bigger the struggle. Here where you must decide whether you are going “check yourself before you wreck yourself,” as Ice Cube coolly advised, or repeat the same vicious cycle (like the temporary little psycho you are) expecting a different result.

It is easy to struggle successfully.

Take no action, maintain the minimum and do not strive to better yourself.

    Seems simple enough.

A position that requires no effort.

Maybe this is you settling in your job, life, friends, love or staying complacent about your place/impact on our world.

That sounds grossly mundane and disgustingly under stimulating, if you ask me, but good luck with that!

Settling into the struggle, and not giving a damn about anything, sounds much simpler than processing why your destined path keeps leading you to similar unwanted destinations.

Nevertheless, this isn’t a community for unempathetic quitters.

If this is you, I’m proud of you for following thus far, but please stop here, unless you’re ready to flourish!

After 15 years as a cosmetologist, I’ve realized it is my purpose to use my experience as a salon owner and “Thairapist” to highlight the insight, encouragement and heartfelt conversations I have experienced in my career.

This platform will be used to enlighten conditioned thinking and educate furthering the knowledge we think we know.

Let’s inspire one another to let go of thinking “it is what it is,” when things go sideways, in order to adopt “it’s what you make it.”

    No topic is off-limits.

Here, it is safe to think beyond conditioned beliefs and question everything we think we know.

If you are constantly seeking the opportunity to soak up new insight and knowledge, let’s educate our knowledge together.

Here, successfully struggling is a power move, not a test of strength.

What is without challenge, reaps reward.
