Detroit Tigers suffered an 11-4 loss in St. Louis in the series opener against the Cardinals. Detroit Tigers offense was shutdown by St. Louis Cardinals starter Sonny Gray who tossed six innings of shutout ball while striking out 10. Detroit Tigers starter Keider Montero went 5.2 IP and allowed 4 earned runs. Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals endured a rain delay for just over a half hour and battled the elements in the later innings to finish the game. Detroit Tigers lose the series opener for just the third time this season, they are 13-3 in series openers. Same two teams back at it tomorrow night, Tarik Skubal will start for the Detroit Tigers and Erick Fedde for the Cardinals.
