  • The Fallacies of Capitalism with Sam Reilly, The Reality of Trump's LA Invasion with Senator Bernie Sanders, Utah's Study to Confirm Gender-Affirming Care is Bad Fails, more
    Jun 14 2025

Essayist Sam Reilly joins us for an interview on his investigation of Capitalism's pervasive lie that the competition it breeds brings about the best results for everyone. Together, he and I help outline the many ways it fails to bear the promised results.

Next, Senator Bernie Sanders spared some of his busy schedule to record his thoughts on the so-called Los Angeles "riots" and how Trump had used them as a poor excuse to further his fascistic ends - I "interview" Bernie's recording to make sure we have what he meant as clear as possible. Finally, we look at how a study commissioned by the GOP of Utah to show scientific evidence of the harms of gender-affirming care flipped on them. • Preserving Worlds of Game Culture, Pride Flag and Celebration Bans Fought Nationwide, How Anger Must Be Kept in the Fight For Us All, more
    Jun 9 2025

Capitalism isn't known for preserving culture, even that culture which was born from its offerings. This inspired Derek Murphy and Mitchell Zemil to create "Preserving Worlds" with Means TV, as both digital archaeology and cultural preservation, documenting not just the technical aspects of online virtual worlds built around games but the human communities and cultures that flourished within them. We discuss the series with them - listen in!

Next, we discover that from Florida Pride celebrants defying Governor DeSantis' anti-LGBT laws to place in Montana, Utah and Idaho finding ways to re-legalize Pride Flags for their communities, there is a nationwide backlash against the attempt top erase the LGBTQ+ community. Finally, we take heed to Jessica Wildfire's piece at The Sentinel Intelligence, where she warns of the danger of allowing only the elites to have anger in their arsenal. • Lisa Graves Says Chief Justice John Roberts is 'Unprecedented', Bill in Congress to Destroy Courts' Oversight of Trump, Federal Court Blocks Iowa Book Ban, mor
    Jun 9 2025

Today's episode opens with an illuminating interview with Lisa Graves, Co-host at Legal AF, MeidasTouch and the Five 8 1/2, discussing her forthcoming book "Unprecedented," which examines Chief Justice John Roberts' leadership in the Supreme Court and his rise to power on the backs of the nation's most fascist interests- listen in to hear more.

Next, we looked at alarming developments in Congress, where provisions buried within Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" are designed to systematically dismantle judicial oversight, including the No Rogue Rulings Act, which would strip judges of their power to issue nationwide injunctions against Trump's policies. Finally, a federal court has struck down Iowa's anti-LGBTQ book ban law as largely unconstitutional for its prohibition of school library books "containing descriptions or depictions of sex acts." • Books That Don't Exist Make It to Chicago Sun Times, Attorney for Venezuelans in El Salvador Wrongly Arrested, NOAA and NWS Hobbled by DOGE Cuts, more
    Jun 9 2025

Today's on TMI - the Chicago Sun-Times published a summer reading list featuring books that don't actually exist, with the author admitting to using artificial intelligence to help create the section, serving up a stark reminder of how technology can undermine media credibility when oversight fails.

Next, we went to El Salvador where an attorney representing Venezuelan immigrants deported by Trump was wrongfully jailed by President Bukele, in an unlawful crackdown on legal advocates and civil rights in the region. Finally, we explored how DOGE cuts have hobbled NOAA and the National Weather Service, ending the agency's half-century tradition of around-the-clock weather monitoring, leaving critical public safety capabilities compromised. • Washington Post's Inconsistent Ethics, Omaha's Electoral Upset, Federal ICE Free Speech Case, Women's Prison Privacy & Pope Leo XIV's Emerging Papacy, more
    Jun 9 2025

The Washington Post hasn't been shy about criticizing RFK Jr.'s Department of Health and Human Services for pushing disinformation on a number of topics, from autism to vaccines, but when RFK Jr's HHS released a report full of anti-trans pseudoscience, they embraced it warmly. With help from Erin Reed's cogent reporting, we examine the falsehoods that WaPo helped endorse, and work to combat the corrosive effect of a major American newspaper spreading them.

We then give a rapid overview of four more topics - the surprise win for Democrat in the race for Omaha's mayor, how a Federal judge is questioning if noncitizens have Constitutional rights, how Michigan's Department of Corrections is violating women prisoners' rights by video recording them even in the shower, and finally what Pope Leo XIV's past and choice of name tells us about his political positions. • Interview with Ricky Gaona, Documentary Filmmaker of Means TV's "Parque Central", Judge Quotes Shakespeare in Takedown of Trump, Gov. Evers Stands Up to ICE Czar Homan, more
    Jun 9 2025

Parque Central, exclusive to Means TV (means.tv), is a documentary about the sharp divides to be found in the day to day lives of those native to the Antigua, Guatemala area and the rich tourist-catering class that runs the city - Ricky Gaona comes to us to talk about his experiences in making such a visceral and vital look at how the need for money turns people into problems.

Next, we look at how Judge Beryl Howell used Shakespeare in permanently blocking Trump's attempt to destroy law firm Perkins Coie and how that then stops Trump from doing the same to other lawyers who don't agree with his edicts. Finally, we follow up on Governor Tony Evers' memo on how to handle interactions with ICE agents, as Tom Homan, acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) threatened Evers with dire consequences over what was a perfectly legal statement by the Governor. Evers isn't going to back down, and we let you hear it in his own words. All this and more on TMI for Friday, May 09, 2025 – listen in for YOUR Cure for the Common Media!

  • BEST OF TMI: McKibben's Review of How Trump's "Emergencies" Make Things Worse, Ezra Klein's "Abundance" Book Abundantly Wrong, Corporation Gets Presidential Pardon, more
    May 2 2025

Bringing back the 4/11/2025 episode in this Best of TMI presentation!

Bill McKibben's recent blog post tackled brilliantly the fact that while the Trump regime has been announcing emergencies everywhere, the ones that legitimately need to be addressed are only made WORSE by the corporate-friendly "solutions", and the rest of these EXCUSES only benefit a VERY few tied directly to Trump - we review it. Then, we look at Ezra Klein's book "Abundance" (co-authored by Derek Thompson) and how it falsely frames problems in doing good things for people as the fault of those who created the solutions, rather than expose the sinister actions of monopolies that don't want their profits harmed. Finally, we briefly note that, likely for the first time ever, Trump issued a full Presidential Pardon for a corporation. • A Memoriam of Pope Francis' Legacy Fighting For the Marginalized, Governor Evers' Memo on How to Deal with ICE agents, AOC Rides Momentum of Dem's Need for Leadership, more
    Apr 25 2025

Pope Francis passed away this week, leaving behind a legacy that many outside the Catholic Church don't realize. We look at a tribute by John Nichols from The Nation which helps shed a light on how the departed pontiff fought to make the world better for those who are marginalized by capitalism. Then, we review how Governor Tony Evers' memo to Wisconsin State agencies and facilities on how to deal with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents caused a stir, despite it being fairly standard advice on how to keep your rights intact in the face of overzealous enforcement. Finally, we examine how the tide has shifted in the Democratic Party, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seems well positioned to ride it into leadership of the Party.
