The French New Generation Aircraft Carrier (PANG) will be equipped with the latest generation of electromagnetic catapults (EMALS) and arresting strands (AAG). These two very recent systems will provide the French Navy with the latest technology for catapulting and landing aircraft.

After more than 20 years of development, EMALS and AAG are deployed on U.S. aircraft carriers and soon on the French Navy's future aircraft carrier. These two systems have many advantages: they are less noisy for the crew, prepare for the arrival of the 6th generation aircraft, increase interoperability between the two navies, etc.

With this in mind, Air&Cosmos had the chance to interview Scott Forney, CEO of General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems, a subsidiary of the General Atomics group, during the Euronaval international air show.
